b16a = jdm
depending on the valve cover, u can tell if its first gen or second gen.
btw...b16a's only came out of civics not integras.

way to give worthless information b16 motors came in not only civics, but integras (89-93 XSI) and del sols. I am not sure how you would EXACTLY find out what car the motor came from, but you might be able to get an idea. There are differences btw first and second gen b16a motors, try a search to find them. A few differences are;

First gen: 160ps, milky white connector plugs, says "PGMFI' on intake manifold, and the valve cover should say DOHC vtec. However, things can easily be changed

Second gen: 170ps, grey connector plugs, intake manifold is blank, and valve cover says dohc VTEC instead of the first gen covers DOHC vtec.

Also, you may look at the motor code which can be seen when you take the heatshield off of the exhaust manifold. If it would be a first gen motor, the first set of numbers might read 8/9 or 9/0 (GENERALLY) a motor built in 89 or 90 will go into a chassis of the next year. <--- not exactly sure on this, if someone can help, I'd appreciate it! If the motor is a second gen motor, the numbers would read something like 9/1 or 9/2.

BTW, If I am wrong, please correct me. Just trying to give some BETTER info than the guy above.
