Default Mig gas, argon?

I'm looking to buy my first tank of argon, my question here is how much should I expect to pay for the gas and the tank? I'm mostly going to do mild steel and stainless.

mild steel you need 75% argon 25% carbon dioxide it's about $35 for the gas for a 80# bottle + if you buy the bottle it'a about $140 or you can rent it for $15 a month + deposit and for stainless you need different gas helium/ carbon dioxide mix

you need to get a 75 25 mixture u canuse that on both mildsteel and stainless argon is primarily used for aluminum.

Question - I don't MIG, I TIG. We use commercial pure argon for everything, Mild, 4130, Al, Ti. We don't do SS. Why would he need a different mix than 75/25 for SS when we use 100 for everything?

And? Like I said, I don't MIG. I've held a MIG torch one time.

People must have gotten the wrong impression from my question. I knew what I needed, which is 75% argon and 25% C02. Though pure argon can be used, it is not the best in in pure state. With mild steel, Argon and Co2 mix is the best. The same mixture can also be used for SS steel ONLY if corrosion resistance is not a priority. If you must maintain corrosion risistance with SS steel, then you have to do the tri-mix.
I just found out how much I'm going to have to pay for my gas. For a mid-size tank filled with Argon and C02, it's going to be 175$. But they also offer a 15 years buy back, meaning I can bring the tank back at anytime and get my 175$ back. It's a sweet deal I think.

To my understanding, for mig, 75/25 is to be used for mild steel, 100% argon is for stainless, and a mix of / pure helium for aluminum. This is only what the suppliers around here are telling me though, I've personally only used a 75/25 mix with steel wire which is what I have now.

A place in concord sold me a full (~2200psi I think) 80# bottle of 75/25 for ~110 out the door, ~23 to fill it.

In NY, an 80ft of argon is $142, argon co2 mix is 130.
The tanks are good for 10 years. When they're empty you bring it to the shop and they trade it for you.
