AUSTRALIAN members only - New Bridgestone RE540S for SALE....!?
I have a brand new (ie unused) set of 4 B'stone RE540S's, which suit the ITR perfectly.....195/55R15.

They are what B'stone call a 'MotorSport' tyre, are 'barely' street legal (best kept for the track though!), very stiff/vertical side wall and they sh*t all over the Falken 'Azenis' (in all departments, but wear rate).

Here are some pictures -
The one on the far right.

This is just a close up, of one of my 'old' set of RE540S.

Why am I selling them? - I have obtained another set of tyres (see first picture) and I would NOT be needing them for some time; as I unfortunately, won't be able to attend many track days this year (other comitments).
Tyre Life/Expectancy? - As an example, I got 3,500 kms of 'road use' (a waste really) + 4 long track days out of my last set.....so if you just used them just for the track, they should last quite a while!
Price? - Only 1 dealer per State, is able to get hold of them from B'stone and they are RRP ~AU$270 or ~$290 if you get them from another B'stone dealer (who would have to order them from the 'one'). I'm willing to sell them for offers around AU$235 each.....TOTALLING - AU$960. Payment could be either a - 'Bank Cheque', 'Money Order' (via Aust. Post Office) or 'Direct Transfer' to my account.
How will you get them? - Depending where you live in Australia - we can come to some form of arrangement. I live in Canberra....so if you're here, then it is very easy. For those in Melbourne....I will be down there for Xmas (21-27 Dec), so I could bring them down with me. For those in Sydney....we could meet half way or something like that.
Contacting Me? - Initially via email (see profile) or PM, then we can talk via phone.
.....they would make a lovely Xmas present, for any suitable car owner!

Just think, you'd definately be the ONLY 'kid on the block' (probably the State) to have them!!

It certainly sounds tempting. I've heard good things abour the RE540s from rlc (he was doing 1:12s at Wakefield.) I wonder how they compare to the 032Rs?
I was thinking of getting another set of factory 15 inch Alloys (mine are already kerbed
) Like you I'm cutting back competing next year - will the RE540s go off if they are sitting around (in the dark) for a year?

If you're getting another set of factory rims, then I assume you'll have your old set just for the 'track'? I doubt the tyres would 'go off' if kept in a garage under wraps; as my last set would only come out about 4 times a year and they were fine.

I'll leave you to ponder and get back to me, if you're keen!?
maybe i can comment on how good they are....... my friend has driven on both the A032 and the 540's........ and from what he says, the RE540's are a good 2-3 seconds quicker around Wakefield. In other words these tyres are amazing!!

grips a tad beter but doesnt feel as good..... it feels skatey/floaty compared with the RE711 and RE010.
Azenis require more steering to 'turn in', are a much harder compound (given longer wear, but less grip), can aqua-plan easiest of the three and are suitable for people who want to be able to turn up @ a track day....without having to swap wheels (ie they're good on the 'road' & not bad on the 'track').
Overall - I'd put the RE711s (I'm on my second set), ahead of the Azenis and the RE010 (pretty good overall - but they wear too quick & don't grip as well as the RE711's or Azenis) in third place.
The RE540S's are on 'another level' all together on both the road & track....plus do very well in the wet (I've driven on the freeway in pouring rain, with no problems)!!
Seeing as I'm the type of guy who likes to just show up at the track w/o having to swap wheels and tyres...I'll stick to my Azenis
