Default Crankwork questions

I had my crank magnafluxed, polished jurnels, and de-burred. The oils on the crank are pretty big looking. They have a slanted oval around the hole, and each oppese each other at a 45 degree angle. Is that right, did my machine guy do good work. ?

also, cranks are freaking heavy as hell.. how much weight can i safly have removed/knife edged.

those slanted ovals on the mains are a good thing, from my understanding they help the oil easy into the bearing making start up easier. Knife edging a crank helps reduce windage in the oil pan, i think you can safely remove 1-2 lbs, and yes they are very heavy but removing 2lbs its a ton of material to remove from your crank, my machine shop guy said 300 bucks to knife edge and i would probably lose 1-2 lbs.

It's called tear dropping. It's a form of chamfering the oil hole to smooth the flow of oil to the crank journals.
