Random Starting problem, changed a few things, and still have no clue, help!?!?
Before i put my turbo on i figured i needed a starter becuase the car would just make a tick noise and it wouldnt turn over and if i repeated turning the key it would eventually start. So than i got a new starter put in and it worked for two weeks, than it started doing it again, geting worse and worse as time went on. So the other day i went to acura and explained it and they said maybe the main fuel relay or my battery. But they claim if it was the relay my car would turn over, now it just goes tick...tick...tick and starts sometimes and sometimes it doesnt. But if i jump it from another car it starts right up most of the time unless the battery drained alot from trying. does anyone have any clue what this could be?? its really annoying not knowing if your car will start or not at any given time, lol. Could it be my alternator, relay,....what?
If you're just getting the 'tick-tick', sounds like not enough current is getting to the starter. First suspect is the battery. Get it load tested. Second is the cables on the battery. Check for solid clean connections, and follow the ground wire to the engine/trans and make sure that end isn't all corroded or frayed. Check all the other fat wires, like the one to the starter, while you're at it.
