Launching
Ok you can look at my sig and see what is done to my ITR. I know how to launch fairly well and can normally get about a 2.1 60' and run a 13.5 at 104 is my best time. This was on Dunlop sp sport 5000's that were almost balled....... Yea the dealership looked at them a week later and told me I needed new tires.
I went all out and got Michelin Exalto's that ran me a lil more than 800 after it was all said and done. I used to launch at 3500 rpms because other wise I would just spin way to much and kill my 60'.
I haven;t really tried launching with the new tires but I am thinking about a 5k launch because of the better traction I will recieve.
How come I hear about s2k's with about 210 whp (which is what i have) launching at 7K and gripping right away? Why can't I do that?

well that is because a s2k is rwd and when you launch all the weight shifts to rear whick helps it gets the traction it needs, 2.1 60's are pretty good for street tires, the only way to find there sweet spot is take it to the track and try launching at different spots.

good call on that one. I guess i should go soon though because the season is coming to an end.

yes 2.1 isnt bad for street tires. get some 23"slicks and launch at 7000 and you'll pull of some 1.8 60'ft. with low 13's mabie high 12's
my best on street tires is 14.1@99 w/ 2.2 60'
and on 20"slicks my best is 13.6@97

try it, nothing bad can happen, and it's better to learn how to launch before you come across someone who wants a peice

rwd, and the lack of torque. s2k's are probably making less then 140tq at 7000k rpm, therefore they don't really have much to make them spin (unless it's a newb driver).

This is true, but only if you have someone that knows how to drive. I have seen STI's at the track runnign like a high 14, and getting like a 2.3 60' because the people in them couldn't drive em. Where as I have seen STI's with decent drivers getting a 1.6 consistently.
