skunk2 stage2 destroyed my rockers
ill bring pics in as soon as i can find my digital camera. but the rockers have obvious rough feel and wear in them after less than 5000 miles
i hope your reading this, skunk2, because you wouldnt let me send them back to look at them without a reciept, which was and is STILL packed up in storage.
becasue now i have a useless head

Replace the rockers. The whole head is not finished to begin with.
I wonder why this is. Many people have 0 problems with them. Have the cams been lubed like a **** in the first place??

I wouldn't blame skunk2, i would blame murphy (murphy's law), i'm sure you probably used lots of assembly lube right? maybe you got some dirt into the engine? sorry to hear man, if you start a rocker donation fund i'll paypal you one dollar.

there are also some EXTREMLY smart people in that thread talking about what a stupid idea it is to do it. just becasue it can be done does not mean its the right thing to do..

as you can see, the intake side was unharmed, probably becasue i got to it early. the cam was already starting to show some abnormal wear

almost all of the vtec rockers on the exhaust side show signs of abnormal wear.
hopeffully ill be able to get a better camera to take some shots of the cam and closer shots of the rockers tonight

What kind of engine oil are/were you using and how often did you change it... I've been running skunk2 Stage2's in my b18c(JDM GSR) for over a year now and my rockers don't show any of the kind of wear you are discribing
of course. i use assembly lube on anything internally.
i was using havoline oil. LESS THAN 5000 MILES on these cams. im thinking 2000 miles, the cams were in the car 3 months and it was driven lightly because it wasnt happy on pump gas. so i tried not to drive it unless there was c12 in it.
i did 3 valve adjustments in that time, but since the cam was over that part of the rocker i never saw the damage. i looked for problems everytime i did a valve adjustment

Those look good compared to this rocker that came out of a GSR head running SK2 stage 1 cams.
The lobe looked just as bad.
DISCLAIMER: Although this is not proof of anything I am just sharing another incident that may or may not have been cam related.
Damn that imagestation, I'll try and get pics up later.

This was the only biggest reason for me to go ctr cams instead of an aftermarket cam with a higher lift/duration.
This has happed to one of my friends, running toda b's also.

You can replace the rockers. I probably have a complete set of rocker arms laying around. I have run my Skunk 2 Stage 2's for 15k + with no abnormal wear. Perhaps you got a bad set, or something else is going on?

Skunk 2 is ****
always have been prolly always will be
even there own sponsored racers hate there stuff but since they do a rebuild every race season sometimes more they don't usually have these issues
Skunks cams are notoriuos for breaking and acclerated valvetrain wear, somebody is going to post and say they've had there cams for a billion years and there daihatsu halls *** since finding a set with considerable use that have lasted is like finding a daihatsu that hauls ***
Personnally of all cam manufacturers Piper has some of the best cams for hard driving, so does toda but for street apps crane, crower and ferrea offer good stuff and though I've not had a set myself JUN's cams are fricken awesome for durability.
