Default z6 swap

I have a 89 civic hatch with a 95 d16z6 in it and was wondering if anyone had any information on how to do the swap. Its already swaped into the car but is very slow, im talking barely beating neons.

You either need to convert to OBD1 by using a conversion harness and a stock P28 ecu, or wire up an rpm activated switch to make vtec work.

Everything is not wired OBD-1 if you're using an OBD-0 ECU. The correct way for you car to run is on an OBD-0 to OBD-1 conversion harness and a stock P28 ECU.

well we have similar set up but my z6 is in a 1990 4 door civic. I am obd0 and am currently running a PM7 ecu with the MSD rpm actived switch. Do you have a rpm actived switch???

probably lean up top.. u could try a pg7 (88-89 teg ecu)..

but your best bet.. and the most ideal tuning wouldbe a obd0 to obd1 conversion. using a p28 ecu

How .. Is it kicking in when a Shift light or something comes on becuse the tach it self has no Switch unless there is a Shift light .. Also there would be not fuel Correction with that and that could spell TROUBLE ...

Is this possible??? On my setup there is an individual unit down by the ECU that controls vtec.

Shoudn't be possible, so he just thinks VTEC is kicking on or something along the lines of that. For losing to a Neon, I hereby say you can't drive senor.

it infact IS possible if u wire it to the shift light w/ a relay.

vtec and your shift light come on around 5k! (would get VERY annoying).

I doubt There would be a CEL, the ECU can read all the sensors it needs to so the ECU thanks everything is ok. This is WHY you can Run a SOHC VTEC with the PM6 and a VTEC Controller .. But P28 is you best bet ..
1st I highly doubt VTEC is working

2nd I dont know how diffrent the Fuel maps are From a PM6 to a P28 loss of power maybe

3rd IF no VTEC and your Running a PM6 your still basically running a Stock SI motor

you're better off just hooking VTEC up to a manual switch than running it through the tach. then see if its working by driving in second gear to about 6k at WOT and flip the switch. you should feel and hear it by then.

note*** this is by far not the best way to activate VTEC, but IMO i think its better than the whole tach deal.

I am running all 88-91 si components and vtec does kick in, you can hear it and feel it. The way that vtec is wired is through the tach by hooking up were you would hook the shift light up to. The tach has a dial were you can set the rpm for when vtec kicks in. And yes i do know how to drive, actually i am quite good.

If all's good with the wiring/motor/and you can drive then I dont know what to tell u.
Not All neons are slow as ****..
Expressos and DOHC models can move..not fast but definatly not slow.
