weight reduction is a good idea for my civic?
well...man..i was searching and find out how to get some weight off....me=all motor with gsr engine bay in my civic coupe
im the only one that is driving my car....and rarely have 1 friend come for a ride (girl)....should i take out the back seats and do some tars removal ...i heard the tars weight around 25lbs + 35lbs (backseats) + 15lbs spare tire....
well i know the gsr engine is heavier than my old SOHC...so i will have more traction on the front....so should i keept those weight to balance out the weight...since the gsr put more weight on the front ....
anyone know what i am talking about

no spare tire?
are you out of your mind
my idiot friend thought that was a good idea to reduce weight when he drives around town cause you know you need weight reduction when you drive on local streets
and every time he got a flat he needed someone had to bring him to his house to get a spare "what a tool"
here's my suggestion...
make hp to go faster
and when your running in the low 12s consistantly and want that 11 second time slip then consider reducing wieght

Reducing weight will make the car accelerate faster, decelerate faster, and improve handling to a certain extent. Ditching the spare tire and seats work good for the track (as would ditching the entire exhaust if permitted at your local track) as these cost nothing to do but they tend to make everyday driving rather annoying. I would suggest look for less obvious things and leave the seat removal and sapre tire tossing for the track if you have money to spend. For instance in my current project I have a Fiberimages carbon fiber hood which is considerably lighter than my stock hood, an 11lb (I think) race battery, no power steering or AC (eg hatch so power steering no big whoop and I have another car if I need one with AC). Lightweight rims are very good investments. Also some performance mods that can add hp can help lose weight such as replacing the stock gsr intake mani with a single runner design or in my case I've gone with ITB's thus ditching the need for intake piping. If you car has swaybars and you are just looking for straightline performance dithing them can shave a decent amount of weight. Just my $.02
hmm i get the concept of cf hood....i dont go rims ...im running stock donuts rims and soem performance tires....the reason im asking this questin is that...because i got gsr engine swapped in and the gsr engine weight around 100lbs mroe than my old engine...so it adds more weight to my front...
i took off around 115lbs including passenger seat and back seat and tars
but im thinking of putting back the passenger seat and spare tire...not the back seat cuz i have no one to give a ride for.....
stock civic with old engine is 52f/48r, with gsr engine is more like 56/44 which is bad...and if take more weight back it would be 58/42 which is very bad...so i dot know

like the other guy said get some light weight rims. 1 lb of rotational weight is equal to 10 lbs of stationary weight. so your steelies weight 17-18 lbs you drop to say, hf rims for $200-$300 and you could use the same tires. you droped 5-6 lbs per rim, times 4 rims lets say 25 lbs. but thats rotational weight so times that by 10 and you got 250 lbs weight reduction for around 200 bucks. my .02

im sorry dude...will you please expand that idea out...hf rims for 2bills to 3 are 5lbs lighter(each) than stock donuts rim? ...im running stock donut rims...that cheapest *** one
