Need Help With Del Sol Ignitor Install
I have a 97 Si Sol, D16Y8 SOHC VTEC, 100,000K+ miles (ouch)...anyways, it won't start and I have checked everything from the timing belt to the MSD ignition and I have been told my numberous locals here in AZ that it is my ignitor in the distribuitor. I have a new one coming tomorrow (10.20.04) and was wondering if anyone had a step by step intsall on this, pics would help. Let me know if you think I am on the right track here. Thanks. The part coming in is #13

I believe that part is the coil not the ignitor... Could be wrong, I forgot... but it's pretty easy... Take off your dizzy and pull of the cap and rotor then remember where everything goes... Take it apart put the new one in and there you go... it's easy...

If #13 is coming, you bought the wrong part...
#10 is the igniter (PN 30130-P06-006 IGNITER UNIT ASSY.), #13 is the ignition coil (PN 30510-PT2-006 COIL ASSY., IGNITION) as seen here: http://www.slhondaparts.com/

God D#$@ it! I was hoping that it was the right part. The auction told me that it was the ignitor that was bad. I have an external coil so that part won't do any good, is that what your telling me?...ps, I paid $35 for one and it was new.

never listen to auctions telling you that your igniter is bad, mechanics are more reliable.
n' yes, telling you that #13 is an ignition coil n ' #10 is an igniter, so if you bought #13, then you paid for an ignition coil.

Hey since you are getting a new coil you might as well test the old one before you go any farther. With the coil disconnected, use a multimeter and take resistance readings on both the primary(the 2 screw terminals) and the secondary (output to plugs) windings. I dont remember what these readins should be, but chiltons and haynes both have them listed. Or another option would be to take the same readings on the new coil and compare results. A difference of 5-10% is probably OK any more than that is suspect.
