Default Present build pics of LS/vtec, BCIII+, eagle, Z10 and all that good stuff....

The car has about 100 miles on it, have not been driving it, because of rain here in Kentucky. I will say quarter throttle up to 4000 rpm is strong. I can't wait to step on it, and hear Vtec scream.
The block turned out real clean from the machine shop, bored to over for pistons

Girdle

My slugs mated to eagle H's

Such a simple package design

Next to B16 intake cam

Group shot

Start up day

Doing the Russian dance after it started with no leaks no codes no problems

thanks for looking, dyno numbers in a few weeks

Every motor i've seen come out of that machine shop have that, it is not as open as you think at the top. Every motor that has come from them still run strong today, but I have no idea what the purpos is. Maybe someone knows on the board somewhere.

The piston size are oem os P73s if you look at the top it has a stamp .25 over stock 81mm.

Head is stock b16 with small mill, Omni valve springs and retainers, crower valves.
Plan on sweet port job. Maybe stage IV's if these are not enough want to see a little over 200 with out head work.

I just wanted a nice street motor for daily driving/autoX road race action. Allready had rods from previous build so I just replaced bearings and got the pistons cheap. Plus they have been pinned just like forged ones. It will be a good mix with my mid compression cams.

works fine

almost exactly the build i am doing right now!

mine is also an ls/vtec my setup is this though...

b18a1. honed, jdm p73-00 pistons
b16a1 head with bc3+
bisimoto header
aebs intake manifold
65mm tb
aebs head studs
new bearings
arp rod bolts
shotpeened rods
goldeneagle fuel rail...with i was thinking 280/290cc injectors....not sure yet
vafcii
pr3 <- still need the ecu and 1-2 other things here and there

my goals for this build are 200whp/low 13 high 12's on the 1/4 and to be in the 100mph club!

They put that small taper/radius on the top so the rings dont snag the top of the cyl when popping them through the ring compressor. Once you guys install a set of pistons the first time you will think back to this post and realize how much this small cut helps..

Very nice build up. The best part is, I love the fact that its going into a EF hb.

BTW you look like the HULK, but with nerdy glasses.

I have plans of switching that, but I hate the stock exhaust mani more, restriction is not my friend nore my engines friend. ANR header is on my list, but i do like the AEBS IM.

An-R is a really nice header, as well as the bisi.

Stupid question, and you can flame if you desire, but I thought girdles are only really needed for FI motor's, not NA? Or maybe I don't know the real purpose for the girdle?

girdle keeps vibrations down at higher rpm, that and a good balancing is good to have.
But with an ls the rod bolts are the real weekness when building a Lsvtec. I am all good there eagle Hbeams and arp rod bolts.

nice setup, and good pics. but why go from a JG edelbrock manifold to a AEBS? How much were those buddy club gears? and AN-R is a pretty good choice money wise for the pooper of that thing! -Jason

The intake mani all depends on the power curve. The edelbrok is of course made for higher rpm power, i am not quite sure where my drop off point is going to be with these cams. If the engine sacrafices from this IM do to the cams and there power gain being low and midrange. I will find something that better suits it. If it does good, then no problem. We will see.
