Huh? Once you are dropped there is NO choice as to how high your car will be for everyday driving. I am confused...

oh and when it comes to groudn clearance.. if you know how to drive... you'll be fine... just dont' go over speedbumps... i'm dropped around 1.75 to 2 inches... and i dont' have any problems... but then again.. that little plastic thing behind the bumper that hangs down in front of the front wheels scrape ...... but you should be able to take those off..

well, if you drop 1.5" or 1.75", your ground clearnance should be reduced by that amount

Exactly. If you just watch out for huge dips in the road or big bumps, you will be fine. When I was running my RM racing lip, my front ground clearance was a max 2 inches from gound to lip, and I hardly scraped it. And that is on shitty PA roads.

Those little plastic things in front of the wheels actually serves a purpose I think. I'm pretty sure I read that if you take them off, the front end seems to get loose at high speeds. Not too sure though.

I'm fairly low right now and I seldom scrape the wheels are so far out to the edges of the car that it does a good job of protecting the front.

I ran my car without them, with no noticable difference. Even removed the rear ones too.

Well, that's most of the S2ki guys for you.

That's where I read it. I didn't make sense to me anyway, being that they are so small and just point straight down. I coudn't see them doing anything. Maybe just tread water or something.

they are side strakes and the only thing that comes to mind is they help keep air from getting into the wheel wells at high speed or help keep snow from getting into the wheel wells. One guy a few years back got disqualified from finishing 1st place at a big auto-x run-off b/c he had removed those strakes which qualified as an illegal modification in a stock class....lol!

Sometimes I just don't get the Auto-x rules. Some seem way too strict.

Also, I don't know, to me, it seems that the strakes would push air under the wheel, creating lift infront of the front tires. Make sense or not, I don't know. But, that's just what I see from it. Kind of like an upside down wing.

I have also read that they increase front end stability at high speeds but I have never personally noticed any difference.

what they do is block air going to the wheels/well by redirecting it either through the middle of the car or around to the outside of the car. I don't think we go fast enough to really notice it, I'd say over 140+ and maybe the effects will be noticed but at that speed, a lot of other mods have been done to go around a turn that quickly.

So, wouldn't the use of a front lip, that hangs a little, render them useless? Or no?

I understand the redirection of the airflow, but air still has to go down also. But, I guess more air gets redirected outward versus down.

Exactly why I don't understand Auto-x rules. It's a piece of plastic.

yep, just b/c the guy that finished second place was over a second behind and protested an "illegal modification." Those cone dodgers take things seriously, I would to, it's very competitive and fun!

Yep, use of a front lip or diffusers that are found in the axel front undertray renders the wheel strakes useless. Please mind my rough and simple explanation of fluid dynmaics but air like water will follow the path of least resistence and for air to flow to the sides is more likely than down into the ground creating lift.
