ok i've got a few problems. my buddy's 93 teg distributor isn't working no more so he put a 94 on. the car starts but when the car sits in neutral and you gas it, the motor just shuts off and blow black smoke from the throtal. but if its in gear then you can drive it if you gas it a bit. anyone know whats wrong? is the distributor wrong or something? PLEASE HELP!

94 dist on 93 integ should work fine... unless the replacement dist. is bad.

they are both OBD1. did you check the timing?

 

havent checked timing, no gun to do so. could that pose the only problem?

 

could be... just make sure it isn't all the way retarded or advanced.

 

yea, while the car is in idle, i slowly shifted the dizzy up n down to where the car would stay alive. but still the car dies if you gas it in neutral. ???

 

like I said, maybe the replacement one is bad.
