Default Anyone checked out pricing for Dart Honda Heads yet?

I am a dealer for Dart now, checking with my distributor I thought what the heck, check on pricing for the heads. The heads are almost $3000 bare and then complete heads are another $400 or so more. WHOO WEEE!!!!! I wondered if anyone has dropped some money down and purchased one yet! I think it will be a few years still before we have drained the B series completely out! At least I hope soo!

http://dartheads.com/honda.htm

I can get good pricing on the blocks BUT heads are $$$$$$$$$$$$

well not really. we just had a dart rep here at our warehouse, and he said that they are starting to build/develop the K series along with the 2jz setup. so they are exanding for sure.

True true BUT it will be forever until all the B series are phased out and people run only K series IMO! The B series will continue to improve kinda like a 5.0 Mustang 302, now they have technology n the Modular motors BUT people will and are still running the Pushrod 302s and will forever! The B series will never be phased out completely! LOL!

oh wow a 2jz head! If anyone has really looked a 2jz head knows there is so much more improvement that can or should be done.

esspecially in a street class turbo car, there is only so much horsepower you can harness anyway, and the added torque of the K series just makes that much harder, i'm B series fo life y0

Yeh, but I don't see the price of the B series ever going up enough for anyone to want to buy the Dart stuff(unless their price seriously goes down).. With the demand of the K series motors getting larger and larger, B series prices are only going to go down from here.

I don't really agree with that. I think if you asked any of the street class competitor's if they would rather have an engine that makes more torque, more horsepower, can support a bigger turbo and spool it faster too that they would choose that over what they are currently running. B series will never totally dissapear, but the K is going to be huge.

i think b series will be here for a while. but the way the other manufacturers are coming out with a big displacement 4 cylinder, the only thing to do is also go with the bigger displacement honda motors.

Yup! BUt I think the B series is not tapped out yet! Like Earl posted with the Benson blocks and off set bores for 87mm(or is it 86mm) B series motors and such!

i have to agree, why would you want to buy a k-series and build it for turbo if you can squeeze out the same amount of power with a b-series for cheaper. only thing is that k-series is suppose to be better all-motor. but then there this guy running around with a 12sec built straigh non-vtec LS. eh..

The idea that any motor makes "enough power already" (which is the gist that i get from what you guys are saying) completely goes against the ideals of what it is we do. Our sport is a constant progression of power and figuring out new ways to harness it. Nothing is ever enough in drag racing.

And no you can't squeeze the same amount of power out of B series give it some time the K head flows better and the bottem end is bigger displacement. It will make more power when they figure out how to make it hold it.

Default Dart head

I have one of the bare Dart heads in my garage - The CNC work is gorgeous. Why are they so expensive? AFAIK, Dart has to pay list price for the (brand new) heads from Honda, so we're talking $2200 before it ever has a cutter touch it. Is the porting and chamber work worth $800? We'll see...

damn, they cost them that much? a shop like them should be paying wholesale for the head. It only cost me $1600 last time I checked.

yeah i doubt that Dart pays that much for a head. they are a big company trying to make money. they wouldnt put out a head just to make a couple of bucks. from what the rep told me they buy the heads by the bulk, so there is no way they pay that much.
