the YS1 trans....
I had an S1 tranny and a YS-1... the S1 I had had taller gears...
5th at 60 MPH on the S1 was 4200 rpm, in the YS-1 it was 4500. Same wheels/tires/everything.

The YS1 tranny is very similar to the Y1. There is a bit taller gearing on the YS1. The YS1 is pretty much a fuel economy tranny.
The S1 is a close ratio tranny with a 4.4 final which is similar to the USDM ITR.
Peace...

yeah, i hear its simular to the itr ratios. it is the most expensive cable tranny and the most saught after. especially the ys1 lsd. make sure its the right one though, i hear some ys1's are from ls and that means long *** ratios. the one you want is 92-93 usdm gsr or 91-92 jdm xsi (?).
plus, the ys1 takes the 92-93 integra clutch. and supposedly (?sp?), the clutch is a bit wider for better grip.

The Y21 has the SAME gearing as the USDM ITR and the JDM cable J1/S1 from the Integra Xs-i. Also has the 4.400 final drive, NOT the 4.26 like the Y1 and S1 LS tranny.
IT IS NOT A FUEL ECONOMY TRANNY.
The only difference on the Y21 vs. the others is that is actually has a SHORTER first gear. 3.3xx vs. a 3.2xx.
As for the S1, it could either be awesome gearing and the 4.400 FD if it's from the Integra Xs-i or it could be the ultra-shitty gearing and 4.26 FD if it's from the LS/GS/RS Integra.
I HAVE A J1 FOR SALE. SAME GEARING AS USDM ITR AND 4.400 FD.

I believe that JunpoweredITR was talking about the LS,RS non-VTEC tranny. In which case the ratios suck ***. There are two versions of the YS1, 92-93 GSR/JDM Integra ratios and 92-93 Integra LS,RS,GS ratios. The later of the two sucks, stay away from it. Only problem is that there really isn't anyway to tell the two apart aside from either opening the tranny and counting the teeth on the gears or installing it and driving it around.

I also keep hearing about there being multiple versions of the Y21 Tranny. I was referring to the USDM GS-R Y21.
Skip all the bullshit. The J1 tranny has ONLY one version, and it is indeed the ITR gearing and the 4.400 FD.

i was'nt talkin bout the y21, i was talkin bout the ys1. but i heard that if it was usdm they come off of ls's, and in japan they are pulled from b16's and have the R gears.
So the YS1 is the best one for say a road trip due to it's higher gears? and Is the YS1 a common b16a matched tranny and does it come equipped in any case with lsd? Just a curious little cat am I, tryin' not to die.
there are two different YS1 trannies. the one with for a 'road trip' would be the YS1 from an LS, which has the long ratios. And this tranny did not come with optional LSD, and it is not a common to mate it with a vtec motor.
the 92-93 GSR YS1 is the one people want for their vtec motors. I think in japan it had an optional LSD. those gear ratios are not so good for a 'road trip'.

Is it possible to add an auto tranny to a B16A? Only reason I'm asking this is because me CRX is already an auto and I really don't want to have to be bothered switching everything over for a 5spd
I going to buy a new tranny this Jan. I have a bad y1. Is the 4.4 YS1 really worh anything over the S1. What is it worh a tenth in the quater or something? I mean is there a worhwhile difference because I know that S1s are cheap.
s1 trannies aren't cheap here. keep in mind that you would have to change your clutch for the ys1 tranny. so it might not be worth it for you.

Notice there are 2 flavors of YS1 tranny's.
Katman's chart should also include the US 92-93 GSR under the JDM YS1.
The US 92-93 GSR has the same ratios as the JDM 92-93 RSi/XSi, which is apparently the same gearing as the hydro CTR/ITR.
As far as "better" on the hwy. between the S1/J1 and the YS1 (GSR/XSi/RSi) the S1/J1 has a better hwy 5th (which isn't saying much).
According to Katman's recent post somewhere in here (I can't find it), the YS1 is internally the same as a hydro B series tranny, which is more robust than all other cable B tranny's - the main reason it is superior over an S1/J1.

OK, so you can post hte charts... SO what's the Cable A1 tranny's ratios? It's not listed....
Just in case you LIVE by Katman's info, it's out of a 90 model LS Integ.
