Few pics of Cage almost done.

Just have to D-Bar in rule book window net and notch dash... This car will hopefully compete in the SFWD class Soon
floor board underneath the driver is "very thin" it's stronger to sandwich plate it. instead of directly welding it on. In case of roll over the platesdo not punch through the floor...

that's the whole reasoning for making a large plate. If the plate is large enough it spreads the force out and it won't punch thru. I sure would rather have it welded. Look at RR cages, they would never prefer it to be bolted. How come you didn't mount the rear down bars directly to the shock tower to make them a straight shot? It's generally a bad idea to have a bend there. Also, are you going to put in a x brace in the rear hoop? Adds a lot of rigidity.

i've always done it that way.. weld in the plate and run the bars as a straight shot to the shock towers.. And a few time the car came back conflicting with the rule book... So ive gotten use to doing it by the book...No x Brace this is a street car i am only going to add what the rule book calls for..

nice job! you may have a problem though with the rear bars being bent cuz thats not legal, ive had friends not able to pass tech with those bars being bent like that.

hardly any of it is SCCA legal. he's not RR though, he's drag racing.

nice job, but you are going to have a hell of a time getting in and out of the car. you should have welded the side bars a bit lower in the front, that would have given you more room to get in and out. 98ctr
I think it's sick. I would be offended if people talked **** to me like you guys are doing to him. How many of you guys build your own cages?????

don't think of it as talking ****, it's just a little helpful criticism.

the rule book said it has to cross between the drivers sholder and elbow in a sitting position with hands on the steering wheel at 8 and 4 clock position...

Any modifications to the door panels needed? I didn't have any panels when my car got the cage done so I don't know if the bars were welded too close to the door frame or not...on the other hand I couldn't imagine them being any closer in either. I am already squeezing the seat in (might have to trim the side bolster wing part).
Not looking forward to getting door panels on there...
