So yah, went to ISA today to do some pulls. Just to adjust VTEC and see how much power I was putting down.
Well ****! Talk about ignition problems. It was missing before I got there, but I thought new plugs might fix the problem. Ofcourse with my luck that didn't do ****. It was a long shot, I had a feeling it was something else.
So went home and tried a few things. I changed coil drivers, and that kinda help fix the problem but there was still a miss. So I just removed the ignitor and wired the MSD directly. Worked like a charm and did a test drive and it seems to be a lot more responsive. It was raining so I couldn't take it all the way up to redline. I hope it cures the problem. If not its good bye MSD and back to stock dizzy if I can find all the parts to put my stock dizzy back to stock.

Yah I run the AEM EMS. My car just started acting up the past 2 weeks. I am probably going to hit the dyno again tomorrow after I do some more test runs.
do you still have the old plugs?? take a look down the sides of them and see if there are streak marks.
I was plagued for 8 months with an msd misfire problems...turned out I had a bad plug wire which was arcing across the spark plug leaving a black scar down the porcelain.
swapped out the plug wires and fresh plugs and no more problem (but this is after I made a plug wire holddown).

I have seen a lot of people make a big deal about hookin up the AEM EMS directly using the MSD. Guys it's a peace of cake! I had to wire 2 wires. Red wire, and white wire from the msd.
The Red wire goes to Black wire with yellow stripe. Then the white wire goes to the white wire with green stripe.
There will also be a dark blue wire and this is your tach signal. Your MSD should have a tach output and you wire that to the dark blue wire inside the dizzy.
All 3 wires are in the dizzy and are coming from the dizzy harness outside.
I then adjusted my Ignition Coil Dwell down to 20 from 40. Then I went to start the car and it fired right up.

I don't know how or why, but my tach is still working and I have not hooked up the tach output from the msd to anything. The ems must be picking it from somewhere else or something. It works so I'm not going to change anything.
I had a similar problem, I wired in a external coil and the wires from the external coil run to the igniter inside the dizzy, well I didn't cover the connection butts that connect to the igniter and the spark inside the dizzy would jump to those exposed terminals and made my car misfire and hesitate alot. After I used a few silicone butt covers from an amp wiring kit the problem went away. I do agree with others, I wish i had left my dizzy alone, the stock ignition system is so good and trouble free it does not need anything.

You may want to try the coil dwell setup wizard now to setup your MSD box settings...
Use the "All CDI Boxes" option...
igntion>advanced ignition>coil dwell setup> coil dwell wizard
