Which would be the best motor for turbo???
Going in a 92-98 Hatch, I'm new to the honda scene, and I'm just curious what would be the absolute best motor for turbo, I've talked to friends, some say b18b, b18c1, h22a, but I want to know from everyone that has done them, any and all info is welcome, Thank You.
the h22a would be a p.i.t.a. Not only is it a tight fit with required modification but then adding a big snail shell to it would be another feat to overcome. It can and has been done but it is expensive.
The b18b and b18c turbo are easy bolt in swaps and both offer alot with the addition of a turbo. I like the b18b turbo because of the long gear tranny that comes with the ls swap(this will be debated), the low compression of the b18b, and last but not least the torque. No one likes to go up against a longer set of rods.
Then there are those who are vtec addicts and prefer a b18c to the b18b because of the head alone.
One could easily be beat by the other by adding a bit of $

Ok so b18b would be the best that you would say? I'm just curious because I can't drive something non turbo, so I was going to start ordering stuff, and building.
In my opinion i wouldn't say it's better, but this is an opinion others like the b18c better. Either one could be faster than the other with a little more money. I just prefer the low end torque of the b18b especially for every day driving, I rarely reach 5000 rpms
