How much miles should I go before I can begin taking it into some high RPM as I have been driving below 3000RPM since I did the engine upgrade? I also notice when I am at a stand still and I rev I get a little smoke is this normal?

Forgot to mention that I have a fields vtec controller right now I will be putting in an upgraded ecu by the end of this week.
I have a little white smoke coming out of the muffler but when I am at a stand still there is no smoke at all only if I rev while in the stop position I notice that there is a little smoke
