Default power lock problem

I have a 99 Accord 4 door LX. The front door locks just started acting up. If I use the switch on the inside (driver or passenger side), it will not lock or unlock the drivers door. Also, if I use the passenger switch, it locks/unlocks all but the driver door. I can use the key from the outside on the drivers side and it will unlock the drivers door, and all the other doors. I have also noticed that when I use the driver switch on the inside (door open, no key in the ignition), sometimes the passenger lock will lock/unlock, sometimes it wont. My first thought was a lock actuator, but the fact that the passenger side is working intermittently makes me wonder if it is something else. If it is the actuator, anyone have any idea how hard and how expensive it is to replace, and are there any links to good instructions on replacing one? BTW, I just bought this car 2 weeks ago, and it worked fine. I am somewhat literate in minor car repair plus I just installed a factory cd player (in dash) and a spoiler on the thing by meself. So I can turn a screwdriver. I did a search and did not find much on this site about door lock problems or replacing a lock actuator. Any help anyone can give me is greatly appreciated. I just joined this forum a few days ago. Thanks.

well, you have a 6th gen, but i do know on 5th gens that the driver's door will not lock when using the inside switch if the door is open...this is to ensure that you don't lock your keys in the car...but the passenger side door lock switch should lock all 4 doors regardless of whether the door is open or not...

The door locks on my ’99 Accord LX sedan also started out the same way, then got progressively worse that I needed to manually unlock each door, and my remote entry would only unlock the back doors. It’s gotten a little better, now when I unlock either front door, one of the back doors will unlock also (but not the other front door).

My guess is that it’s the actuator, but from another thread they run ~ $35 or $40 each (can’t remember the exact price) from the dealer. I wouldn’t mind spending the money if I knew that was the problem, but I don’t. And I also don’t want to spend $150 or $200 to Honda to diagnose this problem.

OK, I bit the proverbial bullet and picked up a lock actuator (one), I'll put it in in the next few days and can tell you how it works. The cost was something like $33 from the dealer.

Of course, you haven't been here for a few weeks so I doubt that you see this response, but I'll post the results in case anybody else is interested. It'll probably be done this upcoming weekend.
