Default build or buy.

hey i dont post on here much, but my problem. Ive got a 97 prelude w about 70k miles. i bought an h23 for real cheap right now and its sitting all cleaned and labeled in pieces around my garage. I planned to build it for boost and swap my head. Becuase of some family issues I now hafta shoulder more than an even share of my school costs. what this means is im at a crossroads.

my parents own half the car so its kinda thru them that i gota run all my plans for it, which is gay. now im faced with a decision: spend 3,000 to get the motor ready for boost, or buy a new car--probably a mkII mr2.

what should i do. Ive got a lotta time and money invested in the prelude, and id need to sell if i trade up. its got a full kit and hood, rims, plus i/h/e. unfortunatly it has a few holes in the trunk from an old stupid wing i took off, and its got a scratch on the fender. what dyou think i could get for this?

WHAT SHOULD I DO?! im so confused. i love honda, but promises of rwd are tempting, plus the mr2 is like my 2nd fav car. I love my prelude but im raelly confused. help me, gimme advice, i really need it. when things go wrong in the family you know u all want a fun car to work on to calm you down. THanks everyone peace.

sorry this was so long, i ramble.

BTW ive built a couple blocks, so i know whats going on and i realize the mr2 is tough but i can deal with it. besides, i want something thatll keep my busy for a long long time. thanks.

I say stick with the Prelude yo. Plus you said you love it, you sure you love it? Cuz for me I'll never sell mine cuz I love the hell out of it. I had my eye on the 5th gen prelude since they came out, back then I was only in middle school(8th grade). They look better and their looks are still pretty up to date, doesn't look outdated as much as that MR2. But rear wheel drive does sound pretty good..too bad the Prelude ain't rwd. I actually wanted a MKIV Supra or a FD RX-7, so I know what you mean about rear wheel drive being tempting. But in the end, I say it just depends on what your gonna use your car for. How about instead of build or buy, make it...buy the other half from your parents, since you mentioned they own half of it Im sure they'll give you a good deal haha

I'm gonna have to go with keeping the Prelude because you yourself said you love it. Plus you already have all the time and money in it, not to mention the knowledge I'm sure you've gained about it. Also, once you finish it, you can still get the Mr.2

i vote keep the prelude for a daily driver, buy an old civic single cam, and boost the hell outta it.

haha well ive been thinkin a lot today, and i just took my prelude for a few little slides around wet corners and the just thought.

I know a rediculous amount about this car, and have come from knowing very little about cars, to beign halfway through an engine build, with no snags but some stripped bolts. i think i should stick this one out. i just need to hear one thing: that preludes can be fast.

after i boost the engine itll be quick.

you know what i dotn care what you tell me afterall. It can be quick, and im going to make it that way. theres always time for toyotas (i grew up with em) but for the next year or so, i think ill stick w the prelude.

BTW is it even possible to sell a lude w a built turbo engine? if nothing else ill swap back to stock and dump the h22 in a civc and then kill myself in a blaze of glory. but would i be able to sell this thing eventually?

if you can afford the mr2 get a turbo one and then you got factory boost with an engine that is as good or better than an h22a.
