DC sports jdm 4-1
Ok. Got your attention.
I have a question. I'm about to buy the DC Sports JDM 4-1 Header. I know I need to buy the Gasket and Flange. But is that all I need to install it onto my 2000 GS-R? Do I need to buy the Spoon Catylitic Jack also? Cuz if I do, then damn that would be way too much money for me to spend.
I can afford to buy the header w/ Gasket and Flange, but not the Catylitic Jack. Can anyone please let me know if I need all these things, or is it ok with just the Header, gasket and flange? Thanks folks!

damn... so that would be over my budget. Should I just get a DC Sports 4-1 header for alot cheaper? Would there be that much of a power difference from a JDM 4-1 header compared to a DC Sports 4-1 Header? LMK. Thanks
I read that the Honda JDM and DC JDM are pretty much a toss up for gains. They are real close in performance....so whichever would be good. I actaully think the CAT is $185 + $25 for the donut gasket (+shipping)
I meant DC Sports 4-1 header (not the DC JDM header) vs. DC JDM 4-1 header. Big difference or little? Is $200 bucks worth spending more than the DC header than the JDM header?
Yea. If you are going to get DC..than the JDM DC is a must. USDM DC is crap (from what I read here)
Anyone else please feel free to chime in on this one....

I say wait till the results of the header test are back. In the meantime, save a little extra dough.
Otherwise, can I have some more info about the free JDM header?

How much are you spending for the flange and donut? Go to Summit racing and get a universal 2.5" Catco Hi flow cat. Its like 72 bucks shipped. Take it to your local muffler shop (one that has a good rep with something like this) and the flange and donut should cost around 20 bucks. I have same set up you are going with and I got the flange and donut for 15 bucks. I even have a heatsheild to keep it stealth for the local cops.
From what i hear, JDM headers are way better than a USDM header. I didn't have the cash flow to buy a JDM header and now i kinda wish i did. But i don't know why everyone thinks that the DC USDM is crap. Compared to a JDM, it isn't as nice. But as far as USDM headers go, I've read that it is one of the best on the market. Sport Compact Car did a header test and they put the DC sports on top. That's just my 2 cents.
JDM 4-1 Header - $280.00
Gasket + Flange - $85.00
Spoon Catylitic Jack - $250.00
Too much money!!!
DC Sports 4-1 Header - $270.00 (that's it)
I'm leaning towards the DC Sports 4-1 Header. I've heard many praises on it, and there isn't as much hassle. Besides, it cost a whole less...

You're gonna regret it later like i do when you hear how much better JDM is. But i'm satisfied with the DC 4-1 as a header. I can feel difference in the car when i accelerate. It's nice. But if you can get the cash flow, get a JDM.

The Spoon cat jack is really only a $200 test pipe. Just get an exhaust shop to make you a $40 test pipe if that's what you're really after.
i see on ur sig that u said, "jrsc is on the way", if u are getting the blower then i suggest u get the kamikaze header, many people that has jrsc got a kamikaze header, dotn know why thogh, (cuz i nevered ask), maybe the pipping is bigger can someone reverfiy this???
DC Sports 4-1 Header - $270.00 (that's it)
DC Sports 4-1 Header - $270.00
Sell DC 4-1 Header ($180)- -$50
Realized he should have waited a couple weeks to save up for a real header - Priceless
Seriously, I think you will just end up spending more to get the "better" header when you realize that you cant really feel an improvement.
IMO

2.5" Catco Cat - 72 (From Summit)
Gasket/Flange -15 (510 Motorsports in Fremont)
Install of the Universal Cat at local shop -60 (Speedee Mufflers)
Total for me was 447 ready to go.
I never seen the gasket/flange so expensive at 85.00 and since you live in Ca as well as I do, dont get caught with that test pipe.
yea your right.I've read the header test and DC did better than almost every header out there, but they didn't test JDM,however the mugens did crap and spoons did crap, the best was the DC 4-1 racing header, but you can't use it on the street, its just a header with a little muffler at the end,so its like having a wide open exhaust, and 2nd was dc 4-2-1.So i think there good headers maybe not the best but there up there.
and plus, the DC 4-1 header is C.A.R.B. exempt, and that's very important for me. I've been pulled over so many times, its not even funny. Plus with a JDM header, I won't pass smog, so that'll be a problem also.
I live in the bay area, so the cops would sooner or later notice it... damn PO's. I guess I'll buy Kamikaze header or the DC 4-1 header. Thanks for all the info and reply's. If you can post more info on any Headers, i think many people would appreciate it...

Just ordered the DC 4-1 Header for $270.00. How much do you think the shops will charge for them to install it?
Also, is it true that you aren't CARB legal and won't pass smog with a JDM? I didn't know that if it's true.

As for not passing smog with the Oe jdm 4-1, my friend passed at Fremonts State Ref with his heatshield on.
I bet you'll end up selling that new header you bought within a few months because you want something a little better.
Do it yourself
, you were just bitching about the price difference between jdm and usdm... money is money, and 50 ain't chump change

Just get the JDM ITR header with the heatshields and be done with it. It wont do anything to your emissions and since it has heatshields, the smog a$$holes wont be able to see its not stock.
