im new to the import scene and i just got a 97 prelude sh.
im wondering if the noise im hearing at about 5k-5.5k is vtec engaging.
is it is supposed to be REALLY loud?

Yes, VTEC on Preludes is pretty loud. I'm sure that's what you're hearing.

 

yea i figured thats what it was but my friends 99civic si isnt as nearly as loud, so i wasnt sure

btw i have about $700 left, any advise on what to buy first (cai, exhaust, headers)???

Well, you only need one header

I would just start of with a CAI and a catback exhaust system.

 

vtec is awesome huh?......i don't even feel vtec anymore, it's set lower so it doesn't kick in as hard, and the boost kinda overshadows it anyway. i'd buy the things you listed in the order you listed them in.

haha I was like this guy not too long ago also (less than 2 weeks ago). I never drove a vtec car in my life and I was always wondering how it sounds and feels. I just gotta say I loovvveee it a lot. It sounds cool cuz it has a nice deep note to it.

 

agreed, i cant even hear vtec anymore the turbo like forces the sound back into the motor.
