Window Off Track? How do i take door apart?
I have a 4-door honda civic LX (year: 99)
I rolled my driver side window down today, but it will not roll back up... if I push the power button to roll down, it rolls down very slowly, but if I push the power button up, it doesn't do anything...
I have only about 3.5 inches of window exposed and have had a couple of people try to help me get window up (1 person pushing power button for WINDOW UP while the other person tries to pull window, or rock window up...)
After a few attempts at this, I was told that it sounds/feels like the window may be off track, but that it could also be a bad switch... which i hear isn't cheap...
I would take the door apart myself to inspect, but thought it wise to check here first to see if anyone had experience with either this problem or with atleast taking the interior door panel(s) off, and/or what to look for...
If anyone can help me with this, that would be great...
Thank you very much!

If you haven't taken a panel off yourself, here is a rough procedure:
- remove screw inside door handle (you need to pull it to see the screw, like how you would open the door from inside).
- remove the screw inside the ... a little cup thingy that you grab onto when you close the door.
- pull out the speaker cover (no screws) and unscrew 3 screws on the outside.
- There are 3 screws holding up the speaker, you can take that out if you wish.
- pull the door panel towards yourself, there are a total of 6 clips. 2 towards the front, 1 towards the back 3 on the bottom. The top is held by the door window seal.
** I have a manual door, so I don't know how different it would be for yours. But you should see electrical plugs for your power window and all that stuff.
Once the panel is off, you can exam the whole system. You can see the whole moving parts and figure out what went wrong.
Hope this helps (at least help you to take off the panel)

yeah... i noticed the screw on the handle, but wouldn't have thought to look behind speaker cover...
this really helps alot!...
now i will have to take a look around in there to see what is going on....
thank you for the helpful info Nova_Dust...
p.s. so.... do i have to take unscrew the speaker screws to be able to get inside the door? or does leaving them in just mean that the speaker will remain on the door panel?
thanks again Nova_Dust! ~ you rock
