300hp?
Hello,
I have a 92 lude Si. I have had the car for two years and I absolutely love it. It is one of the most attractive cars around and it's fun as hell!!! I would really like to upgrade the performance someday. If I replaced the engine and tranny, is 300hp and a six-speed reasonable? or am I just dreaming? What engine would be most appropriate?
Thnx for any input

well at the mo theres no 6x speed on any H-series engine and there is currently no engine mounts to suit on the market.
K20a
Fully built, bit pricey though.
But Id say stick with H motor and build for turbo

Preludes will probably be classics by then! by the way its looking there wont be any for a while IF there will ever be these mounts.
This is because of the current high market value of the K motors and the lack of demand for thew Prelude.

why would anyone want to put a k-series when they've already got an h-series. other than the 6-speed tranny, i don't really see any reason to change. plus, you'd have to fab up your own motor mounts. if you don't mind doing that, then screw the k-series........put a damn LS-2 motor in there and make it RWD. Let's get serious folks. 6-speed = NOT HAPPENING unless you get one custom built- $10k+...........and 300hp= not too hard, but still a good $7-12 if done with a reliably built turbo motor.
thnx chris,
I currently have an h23 w/ 160hp... i'm a little confused about the h22, h22a, and so on... how much hp does each one have?
(I feel stupid for asking, but...) What's an LS-2?

i was just messing around man, the LS-2 is the new vette motor.
i know a stock h22a4 has 195-200hp, which is about 158-163hp at the wheels. a common thing for h23 luders is to just put a vtec head, which will help out a lot, or you could even just swap to an h22 (more costly).

Thanks a lot for all the information. Unfortunetely, i'm a trial user, so this will be my last post for the day... but before I go... what do you have in your lude? Do you find it to be enough beef, or are you going to upgrade sometime?
Also, will putting a vtec header on my h23 give 195 hp?
RANDOM: Anybody got an opinion on altezza rear lights for the 4th gen lude?

Because K series hybrid has 300hp NA potential. He asked for 300hp 6-speed swap. And he said he has time to wait.
this is the best option assuming hasport or place racing comes out with mounts.
Read ownz Joo.

of course h22a has 300hp na pot, although the k series would be half the price to get there (k24 lb + k20 head + i/h/e/flash = 250ish whp right there)

waiting for the motor mounts to be made is like waiting for you to get f***ed by Jenna Jameson------It's possible, but highly improbable.

not a header.......a head. and i think altezzas make most cars look cheap and ricey. now we'll most likely hear something from someone who disagrees because they have altezzas.............

I think most people on the forum will tell you to keep the high quality OEM ones, But its your car do what YOU want.
Personally Id keep the stocks, they wont mist up and you know theyre top quality.

there's probably not even a billion dollars worth of k-series engines out there, much less ones that prelude owners who aren't happy with their h-series motors are going to buy. and even then, the motor mounts are a fraction of the cost of those motors, so you might be able to make a living, but don't have too many kids, or it won't be a happy living.

if you have 14 grand, endyne has 300 n/a hp for you. If you're normal though, turbo would be your only option and it'd be about 10 grand after all is said and done if you're shooting for 300hp. I know it may not seem like 10 grand but if you add up all the receipts in the end... well ya know. cheap fast reliable pick 2.
