gauge cluster just died..anyone know why?
well i was just taking my car for a ride to the store and back and all of a sudden my guages just fell and nothing was working.. i have interior lights and everything thing else as far as i know.. anyone have a clue what it could be? i did check connections and grounds but found nothing, i checked fuses but i was not sure which one goes to the gauge cluster?? thanks in advance
check all the fuses even if you dont know where it is, anything burnt replace.
Not really sure why your cluster would go out like that.

My ITR cluster speedo went out the other day. But after a while it sprang back to life. I think it was a bad connection due to wiring since I tapped the ITR wire harnesses into the existing civic harnesses. but for your whole cluster to go out is kinda weird. Maybe if you have a friend with a civic lie yours, swap clusters and see if it is the wiring, cluster or worse.
Oh check you owner's manual. there is a page that lists the various fuses and can tell you where it is.

yeah i checked all the ones under the dash but i thought that there is a fuse on the back of the cluster.. i am not sure i could be wrong but i thought i saw that before i was thinking about taking it out again and looking at it.. i am going to take my friends guage cluster and try that today but i just wanted some more info to keep searching on if it wasn't the whole cluster..
Don't think there's a fuse on the cluster itself. You might try a few more things:
1.) Check the alternator connections - make sure the ground and main power cable from the alternator are tight
2.) Check the under-hood fuse box - the fuse descriptions are inscribed on the cover (likewise they are listed on the inside of the fuse box cover under the dash)
3.) Check the wiring harness ground behind your cluster - if you have to resort to removing the cluster, take a look at all the wires back there -There is a single, lonely black wire with a clip at the end - Make sure that one is making good contact to the metal framing.
4.) Check the battery connections - maybe a battery post cable got a bit loose - that might be the culprit...
But from the symptoms of all the gauges dying at once, seems like a fuse to me...
Good luck
