car maintenence documentation
for the people that have sold their cars before, when they ask for car maintenence receipts/documentations, what if you do your own oil changes, how would you "officially" document that? would changing your own oil void warranty? thanks
No!!! changing your own oil will not void your warranty, but however there is no way of documenting what service you have done to your vehicle.
i typically do something that shows potential buyers that i'm an honest seller, like pointing out a subtle flaw with the car. i also explain that i prefer to do it myself so i can watch for undercarriage signs of wear and that for the price of a regular oil change, i can do it myself with synthetic.
good documentaion speaks for itself. self-performed oil changes are easier to explain if the repairs are all up to date.
