My hat's off to Eagle's oustanding rods *destruction pics*
NOT MY MOTOR
When a valve dropped at 12,000rpm due to the infamous 3-2 miss-shift everything demolished. The piston is a top of the line forged piece, and as you can see is long gone. The rod, however, is virtually untouched and still measures out totally in spec!

EDIT: Here is the rest of the motor -

Saw it in person... Major damage done... Rod looked like it should. Tough luck for the owner...

Um, I'm not sure of any piston that would have survived a valve dropping at 12,000 rpm

I love eagle rods too (BUT) in this case i wouldnt expect there to be major damage to the rod anyways..considering the material differences between the rod and piston..(think about it for a sec) on the event of dropping a valve and it being chewed and pounded by the piston...why would u see considerable damage on the rod, besides maybe some scrapes and nics from debree..?..eagle rods are still good dont get me wrong..and i hope people dont start bashing CPs cause no piston wouldve survived..
and if i'm not mistaken. those aren't even the upgraded ARP bolts are they? those look like they're regular eagle rod bolts. I've also ran eagles on my last motor and they held 300+hp just fine. and maybe picking up another set for my next motor build here soon. just can't beat the price

ive seen the not upgraded ones hold even more power than that..MOST people on here that bash them, have never even used them..

I don't think I have the upgraded bolts either and mine seen 340hp no problem...
people bash on eagle rods, but I haven't heard of one breaking yet

Hmmm alrighty then, I bought a motor with a dropped valve, piston is mince but the OE rods are still 100% .... so why not all go for OE rods now?
Dropped valves *will/should* never cause a problem with ANY rod, not even OE... If you wan't to see eagles that failed, do a search. I like eagles, nothing against them, just being factual.

lol.. gotta love honda-tech. Think about how the engine blew for a second, why would the rods bend/snap/crack, etc ?
I've seen the same situation with stock rods taking the abuse. In fact when the head was pulled the entire piston was completely gone (shattered to bits and was in the oil pan) with nothing but the stock rods looking back up at us.
I'll probably use Eagles as well just throwing that out there.
