As far as weight reduction goes, do some searching on here. There are a few good weight reduction write ups floating around. If you have an SI remove the sunroof immediately! I have an SI and the sunroof is 65lbs. high and center

Take out as much as possible.
You will definitly have to sacrifice things, but it is a racecar, unlike my daily driver..
Interior, A/C(if there), P/S(obvious).
Make a solid rear axle, cut out the trunk and weld in sheet metal, dont forget to get rid of the rear bumper or put nice holes in it. Once you are trapping high speeds that stock bumper will slow you down.
Sunroof ( if there)
Lexan windows, rear wiper, front wipers, motors, Everything and Anything.

Chip away the factory sound deadening, gut out your doors(crash bars ect) and make aluminum door panels, strip out your dash and any extra wiring that you don't need and make your self an aluminum dash. Theres a few more tips for you.
X the sunroof if your car has one, bumper supports, replace stock doors with composite doors glass/carbon. Get a lightweight drivers seat. I wouldn't spend your money on a one piece front end, maybe a glass or carbon hood. All lexan windows. If you can replace the rear hatch that would be good to. Go for the things that matters most. Obviously go through and take out things like heater core, windsheild washer tank etc. I am assuming this is non street app.
