What is the difference between stock rims (gsr 95,96,97)?
Hey guys (and girls), I am looking for a new (used) GSR but was wondering if there were any differences between years, and which years have different style rims. I know the 98+ ones come with the 6? spoke rims. What style are stock on the 95,96,97's? Thanx, Sol
The staff of Honda-Tech.com has become aware that you, oh timid newbie, may be wary of posting your musings on our little corner of the Internet. But, young fragile newbie, we want to make you feel welcome and answer your questions. To ease the process we suggest you heed the following advice:
First, research our topics to see if your question has already been answered. The site is equipped with a search function that allows you to browse past discussions. Not only might you find an answer to your question, you will also find a great archive of accumulated knowledge that you may wish to read at any time.
Be patient. The simplest questions are often answered last. Many people here have been on Internet discussion boards for quite some time and are reluctant to draft answers to questions that they may have posted several times before. Most all questions receive at least some sort of response by the end of each day.
Most importantly, be clear and objective. State the specifics of your situation, as each situation demands a different answer. List your modifications, your intended purpose for the car, and specifically what characteristics you would like to change. The more information you can give us, the better answer you will receive.
If you have a question, make sure it’s a question. Most victims of flame wars post answers in the forms of questions. They have their mind made up, they are not impartial, and all too often they have not done their own research.
Discussions are sometimes better than answers. If you don’t feel as though you are 100% sure of your answer, let your uncertainty be known or don’t answer at all. You will not be flamed for posting your thoughts, theories, opinions, or even wild guesses as long as you don’t represent them as fact. You’ll have done no wrong by making an incorrect assumption as long as you remain open to its discussion and dissection. Keep in mind there is probably someone else out there that can provide a 100% answer.
Try not to **** off the big meany-head Administrators or Moderators.
Enjoy yourself.

94-95 have the 5 blade rims polished
96 have 6 spoke hubcap looking rims unpolished
97 have the web rims polished (also look like 98+ LS rims)
98-01 have the 6 spoke spiral finely polished rims

thanx for the helpful answers, i really couldnt find too much of a pattern by checking ebaymotors, it seems everyone swaps their rims to aftermarket or the newer 6 spoke. I'm partial to the 16 spoke rims (spiderweb?), like those found on the 97's. Atleast I know what to look for now, thanx, peace. Sol

96 are the ugliest, but the lightest to. 94-95 are played out, but I have them on my 98 Gsr. I personally like the 98 more now, than I do the 94-95.
At one time I had all years with the exception of 96.

There are some pics of rims on this site:

Match up the descriptions with the correct pics. Fastest answer gets to play millionaire (hot seat?). Sorry, couldn't resist.

It varies between the years of 94-97, they had the Acura Five Spokes that were on the special editions and the GSR' 94-97 and then they also had the Aluminum Six spokes on some GSR's and Special Editions as well but when purchasing a used GSR you will find a variety of wheels because people tend to try and be different so you may come up with Si wheels, or newer GSR's wheels sometimes you will even end up with hubcaps if the people are scandolous...Also a suggestion don't even think about buying a 98-01 GSR they suck OBDI is where it is at....
Heh, i have a green 1996 GSR, with those rims as a matter of fact.....
One trend with the 96 rims I have seen a couple of times is to paint thme black, a couple of people on here have pics, Here we go.....
