Damged S2k Question....
The GPW S got rear-ended
The right quarter, trunk, right taillight, bumper and exhaust got ruined. There doesnt seem to be any signs of frame damage/tweaking. Its not that bad, but those parts need replacing....How much (estimate) is insurance gunna cough up for this? I cant wait until Monday for the estimate, and I know you guys arent experts. Maybe anyone has had a similar situation... And by how much is this going to effect the re-sale on the car? Everyone wants an accident-free S2k
I dont even have teh car in my hands yet...
this sucks

I've had two accidents where the first was minor damage to the front end and the second was moderate damage where the front bumper and fender had to be replaced. I took the hit and had the repairs done out of my pocket both times. I basically wanted to avoid my insurance altogether and not put up with the hassle and increased premium.
As fas a the "accident free" S2K, well, **** happens and it's just something you have to prepare yourself for if you daily drive it.

The car cannot be totalled... so therefor the title remains clean, correct? thats what i thought anyway... and her insurance would be paying for it... just wondering whats its gunna cost them to do it, and how much the value of the car will drop on re-sale...

WOW, thats some big money and helps my question as well. Did you lose any do you suppose on re-sale value?

Well, its hard to say. The car is only worth what someone will pay for it. It's a lease, so I'm just going to give it back. I'm sure they'll sell it and not tell the customer it was in an accident.
Demand loss of value as well. Most people looking for an s2k will not buy one that has been wrecked, so you'll lose a few g's on the sale price when you go to sell it. The insurance should comp you for that.
Edit: Also be careful for this, as it can make it more expensive for them than just totalling out the car.

find a very good shop through references of other car clubs in your area that are **** about paint quality and consistency. Remember, if the quality of the repair is good or excellant, there is nothing you need to worry about.
I think he is asking.....even though the car has been repaired properly, when he goes to sell it and someone says...."has it ever been in any accidents?" and he says yes, but...it was repaired perfectly...... that buyer just automatically deducted XXX $ from how much he is willing to pay.
If I knew a car was wrecked that I was looking it, i would deduct $2k (just throwing out a figure) due to the uncertainty of the thing.... will that side fade quicker? is the alignment really perfect, etc......
I was pretty pissed when I had to get some body work done on my GMC Typhoon due to an idiot lady...... but they did not offer anything for the reduced value of my truck.... that was the only paint work it ever had.

If they don't just say "Thanks for your time" and go find another one. I know I always have, because you never know how much of the truth the owner is telling you about the wreck. "Oh, it was a very minor dent.... (that bent a tie rod, cracked the radiator, and kinked all the ac lines.. haha sucker)"

if the repair was done properly and consistently, I wouldn't worry about it. But if the damage was pretty bad, and you could tell inconsistencies in the paint surface (orange peel) and could see poor craftsmanship in the repair, then I would deduct $$$.
