F22b1 dies after 4000rpms, any ideas?
last week i got a CEL for code 22, vtec pressure switch, so i took the assembly off the car and cleaned out the lil metal screen, which was COATED in crap... put some gasket maker on it and put it back in. co cel anymore. but... af i'm at wot, right around at about 4k rpms, it stops pulling. it still accelerates, but it feels like it loses all torque. for something to compare it to, my friend had hiw accord turbo dumping wastegate gasses right on the turbo inlet. it pulled like mad till the wg opened, then it just stopped pulling. motor is F22b1 so there are no secondaries, i have no idea what it might be. i'm getitng a wideband o2 in prolly a month, and the p28 ecu will be in soon, im going to see if it was the ecu that wasnt working right.
i had the exact same thing with my 01 accord the day i was about to buy it. on the roadtest aftet 4k rpm there was nothing, sure the rpm was still climbing...just no power at all
They changed the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) (the speed needle didnt work) and i guess they reset the computer..then everything worked fine!!
You should try resetting the ECM (pull out radio/backup fuse for 10 min or about) and try it again..
If it doesnt work at all, take off your v-tec pressure switch again, and check if any of your gasket maker got in it.. :/

ya, im gonna reset the ecu... i duno why it did this.... might have gotten some gasket maker in there cause it moved a bit when i was tryin to get my hand in that tight spot.... if theres gasketmaker in there tho i cant get it out of the block... im hoping its not clogging any of the lil holes or pathways. ive got a p28 too im just waiting on the rom burner to get here tomorrow, see if that has any effect. thx tho...
