Default horrible shaking after rotor install (during acceleration)

just did my rotor install (95 LX) yesterday and everything went smoothly (granted it was tedious to do). i drive home, and about half way there (really can't get up to a good speed until you are half way there.... ) my car starts to shake side ways (left to right) bad enough that im scared to drive it. feels kind of like what im guessing it feels like to have a tire wobble, but that's not it. i used air tools on everything and checked all the lugs and bolts at least two times. only issue i had was that i had to help the axle back into the spindle on the drivers side. i have no idea what would be causing this as i didn't run into any problems! another thing is that last night i heard a small knock near the passenger side.... axle popping out maybe?

anyway thanks for the help, and yes, everything was fine with acceleration before hand.

did u replace with a brand new rotor? could be warped. And i know u used power tools but did u recheck the lugnuts? they might have loosened up on the drive home.

Have a friend help u and secure the front of the car on jack stands , take off the wheels and start the car, have him slowly give it gas and see if u can see the axles vibrating, i had something similar happen to me and on the passenger side where the axle attaches to the half shaft, the axle had damage on the inside of the boot and was shaking like crazy, had to get it fixed.

rotors are new...i doubt that would affect acceleration anyway. lugs are on really tight. i dont see how the axle could be damaged seeing as 2 hrs earlier when i drove up they were fine. i just dont see them being damaged....

im going to take off the wheels again, and check everything one more time....

any other ideas?

Did you use new pads? I dont know if you know this or not but rotors and pads need to have about 500 miles of easy braking in order to seat properly. If they were used pads then they are probably not flat like the new rotor you installed. If you put new pads on then nevermind dont listen to me.

yes, everything is new.... even the calipers and even one bracket. i wouldn't think uneven pads would cause this kind of shake. this is a wicked little shake. seems to increase as you accelerate. im going to take it down the road again and see what happens....i dont have access to the air tools today.....so taking the wheels off may have to wait till tomorrow.

I had new rotors installed a while back, and I still had vibration under braking. Even if the rotors are new, they might not be perfectly flat, and that could cause the shaking, but I doubt it would shake that badly. You'll have to take them off, and get them machined, to see if they are true.

maybe you misread the post body and title. braking is PERFECT. ACCELERATION is not. as i accelerate the car shakes. i have a bent rim on the front, but i would have felt that before i did the rotor install (which i didnt). and besides, this isnt a rim shaking problem. bearings are great as is the hub. which leaves me to think of the axles. they looked good....no torn boots or anything. i took it back out for a short ride and i lied about the shake....its more like going over lots of little bumps...big enough bumps to not feel good i need my car for work too....so someone help *Cry*

then i repeat - check your axles... when i made my post and said the same thing happened to me, i meant also that when i accelerated it would shake violently when i brake it was perfect... if i let off hte gas and roll it would be fine as well...

If thats the case check the axle.
