Default jdm ecu vs usdm ecu

not so sure of myself thats why im asking here for h-t members own experiences or thoughts. does jdm ecu really put more hp compared to using usdm ecu? found a site while back a stock mr2 turbo was dynoed with usdm ecu vs the jdm ecu and the jdm ecu did bump more hp to the wheels.

from your experience could this be true?

it is sort of true depending on the motor. for example the jdm gsr ecu versus usdm one is not as good as the usdm one on a jdm motor.

yes i understand. the mr2-T (usdm) makes 200hp. and the mr2 GTS (jdm) makes 250hp.
the jdm ecu sucks due to speed gov.

why im asking... my jdm b18c with the jdm ecu (sucks 120mph max) seems to pull harder compared to both of my friends usdm b18c1 with more mods in a dx/cx body hatch compared to my si with 5lug itr conversion. their cars pull more torque though top end mine seem to flow pass by...
