kuhmo 711
has anyone used these? i will be using them as a daily driven tire in texas(2 snow days a year). i was wondering if they were noisy, unstable at speeds, and how long they last? why did i choose this particular tire? cost. just haven't found anything about them on this forum.

THEY JUMP! I wouldn't do them again...cheap and reliable for a small daily driver.. but if you aregoing for the looks aretread pattern or for speed ont get them...they jump about an inch on sharp turns and in rain...go with a better tire... they sell kumho on tire rack for 52 a piece price=quality
i dont know what the hell he's talking about.
they're a good street and rain tire. they're cheap, and if your suspension and alignment are tuned, you'll never want anything more expensive on the street. i've always used them.
they dont last as long as other tires. soft tires are better for traction while harder tires are better for longevity.
they're not noisy with the right alignment and definately never unstable. i think unstable is more a function of your struts.
nice stiff sidewall. great street tire at a great price.

well, from my personal experience with them on my car- they were crap. the were starting to like dryrot in spots, and were somehow soft enough that i would seriously get pebbles going into the tire and causing flats
. for a little more money, id reccommend the 712's. i moved over to them and i like them better then the 711's

There not bad for daily driving, but if you plan on running with them get another set of tires. Also hope you have a good stero because they make alot of road noise.
edit:
Whats i/c/e? Do you mean ICE?

Serious junk....
I have Bridgestone Pole Position SO3's on my hatch - will not consider another tire for my car...
Tire rack has them on sale right now $76.00 for 195/50/15 until the end of the month.

Second that. Mine were 205/40/HR17 and lasted 35K -- 10K in the mountains. As with many lower quality tires, I've noticed they have a higher tendency to sway on uneven pavement. For the price -

To throw my 2cents. I have Kuho Ecstas 711. I love them!!! They seem to last a long time. Well I dont know what you guys consider a long time. So far I have driven on them for 7-8000 miles. My last pair of Falken Azenis lasted 10k miles. and I see plenty of tread. Inbetween the two sets (Falken and Kumho) I got a set of Nittos cant remember which ones. 400 something I think. Falkens were sold out and I went with these cause they were the "cheapest" set of tires at the store. 60 dollars per tire. They were crap. Terrible sidewall and terrible grip. They would squeal at the slightest thing. If I jerk my wheel back and forth left to right, I could feel the car roll and set before turning. as opposed to the falkens which didnt roll and and direct response. The kumhos squat jsut a little bit. But they dont squeal. I find the traction to be very suprising for the price I paid for them. I run my car around corners pretty hard and that is how I base my analysis of tires. Grip, noise, handling are the key components I look for. The falkens were cheap and everyone knows this. 45 dollars plus mount and balance. (I ran 14" rims when i got them thats why) Now i have 15" rims and the kumho Ecsta 711 only cost me 45 with mount and balance per tire.
I am currently rolling on 711's. They make a great tire for daily driving as they are definitely grippier than stock tires yet have good tread life. However, I wouldn't recommend these for spirited driving up in the mountains or anything similar.
i might pick up a set just to try them. really can't beat the price. where are they $37 a piece? i/c/e=intake/cams/exhaust...don't have in car electronics...not even a stereo or speakers. just me walmart boombox.

Kumho Ecsta 711s are one of the cheapest summer tires you can buy, and are the best bang for the buck IMHO. They may not grip as well as a more expensive summer tire, but they are light years ahead of any all-season and I cannot lock them up on dry pavement with OEM Honda brake pads on 10.3" brakes in a 2600 lb car. I run 205/50-15 711s ($45 apiece from TireRack) on my daily driven Civic and couldn't be happier. I don't need to pull 3g's on a skidpad in my daily driver (thats what my race car is for), I just need a good semi-grippy summer tire that handles rain well and is very inexpensive to keep my wallet happy. I get between 20,000-25,000 street miles out of a set - if I didn't have a little bit of toe-out dialed in, I'd probably get a bit more out of them; bad toe settings will really wear them quickly. They get a bit noisier once they are worn down, but Civics are econo-shitboxes and are noisy in general so I don't notice much (especially since I always have the radio on
). The sidewalls are on the soft side with normal pressures, so they make for a fairly comfortable ride.
If you're looking for a competition tire or something that is durable at the track and will perform well, then look elsewhere (and be prepared to spend a lot more money). However, if you're looking for a summer tire that balances dry grip, wet grip, treadlife, and most importantly cost, these are the tires for you.
