Default 00ITR with BC3+ Dyno Day!

Well I finally made it to the dyno! Thanks to Stoney at VSV! who took me in last minute and did a great job!
anyways enough talk more picks

Dyno Image Below
Dyno shot

Stoney hard at work

and ah yes Joey's favorite part of the trip ....tha hand cleaner that swmells like candy

oh and current mods are 00 ITR
K&N drop in
ported TB
AEBS IM
Hondata Im gasket
B&M FPR and Gauge
OBD2 Prelude injectors
walbro fuel pump
hondata s200
JDM DC 4-1
Comptech exhaust
BC spec 3+ and BC gears (thanks Robear Racing)
removed power steering

Thanks again VSV!
I was wondering if these numbers are ok for the mods I have? I figured I would atleast of hit 190hp but this was my first time to dyno and I am running low compression compared to most with theses cams. Oh well it runs ALOT better on the street! and hope fully a little port/polish and raise the compression should do the trick to break 200whp and stay pretty relliable

Mill the head a bit, get a port job and you should be at 200whp easily

That was his first time at the dyno, and the cams were installed prior to it. So there were no original numbers.

sorry dude...im very disappointed about ur gain based on your mods...182hp for those mods, on 00 ITR is very poor i think...i would expect a little more than 182...dont you think so too..

We need a stock R dyno from that same dyno w/ similar conditions. Or a couple trips down the 1/4 to see what it traps.

well there were several LS Vtecs with CTR pistons and Skunk 2 Stage 2 with in 5-8 Hp of me
but my curve looked a bit smoother

at one time he had it very rich and it hit 186 but the curve looked like ***

I dunno I was disappointed b/c I figured it would have been higher but I dunno these dynos are so subjective and every single one of them are different
so it is kind of hard to be comparing these graphs

oh hey how much would you have to mill the head to make up a 12:1 compression?
thinking that might be a little easier then pulling the block out and if it messes up it is alot easeir to replace

IF you have a relatively low mileage c5 motor or it compression checks good. I wouldnt tear it apart either. The OEM assembled bottem end is always going to be the most reliable, esp if its proven reliable so far.

I would also look towards milling the head in order to get near a ~12:1 compression.

Im sure with another point in compression, valve job, and porting you'll be near 200 whp. Maybe a different tuner too?????!!?

granted, this comment is coming from a person who listed ngk wires in his list of mods. i've seen itr's baseline 159whp, and he's upped his 20+whp and you are disappointed? who ******' cares. every car is different and dyno's lie just as much as they tell the truth. i think that making 20+whp from adding mild cams, header and exhaust is good. everyone is so quick to dis, yet they have nothing to back it up. where's your dyno sheet?

Thank you.

I think he agrees theres no reason to rebuild a stock C5 with 225psi straight across and 47k. So, the next step would be a milled head with Omniman high compression valves and maybe another intake.

Question: How much to mill off the head along with those valves to achieve 12:1 compression?

yeah I was thinking of getting another head and buildiing it to my specs (Omni high compression valves, springs, ect. , mill the head with a little port and polish)

didnt really want to pull the bottem end outta the car with such low miles but I wouldnt mind building a head for it and having the stocker on the side if anything goes wrong

.030 of the head should raise compression about .8(+ or - a .1)

You know you are probably right! I probably ought to freshen up on my Hondata skills , after all, I only had two (2) cars that I did all the fabrication and tuning on this weekend run 10 second quarter mile passes!

Guys, dynos should never be used to determine absolute numbers. They are tuning tools to judge gains, nothing more. Always keep that in mind.

Comparing these 2 ITR motors to his, I think he is doing good for said mods. Look at the mid range ... he has them both beat by a significant amount.
