Default b17 crankshaft in a b18(non-vtec)..

would a b18b get the 1.75 r/s ratio by replacing the crankshaft with a b17..i'd figure since this works for b20, i think it would apply to the b18b too, then u could resleeve it and bore it out with 84 or 85mm pistons, not to sure what the diplacement will be but hopefully more than a 1.8, i'm also not too sure if the rods will need any modification..but wouldn't this be a good idea, no? someone enlighten me on this topic as i couldn't find anything with the search function..

Yes, the B20 and the B18b have the same crank....just the B20 has a bigger bore.

Edit: if it is true for the B18B. I have not verified that the B17 crank will give the B18 a r/s ratio of 1.75:1 or not.

you can put the B17 crank into a B18B. you will need custom rods though which will cost quite a bit.

if your gonna go through the trouble of re-sleving the B18B with 84mm sleeves you are probably better off getting a B20 since it already has the 84mm pistons.

i don't plan on doing this but just wondering..the idea of a 2.0 honda motor with a 1.75 r/s ratio is very interesting..

you dont need custom rods you can use the b17a it would get a better r/s ratio. the stroke is a 81 and not a 89 like in the b18a so you will have a really high 1.6 liter.

wrong.

remember the b17a has 7mm less deck height. this means if you use the b17 crank with b17 rods, the pistons will be about 7mm in the hole.

custom rods are needed to achieve the proper R/S.

84.5mm w/ b17a is about the size of a stock LS motor. not worth it in my opinion. best street cams make the peak power before 8200.
revving sky-high because you have a good R/S is senseless.
