Heel-Toe Illustrated
That Hoda site has some real gems if you dig enough. Came across this animation of Heel-Toe downshifting. I know we all probably already know how to do it from watching all those BestMotoring videos

You can also do the throttle blip with the outside edge of the right foot - sort of rolling your foot over at the ankle (need big feet to do this though).
Otherwise good work!

The sad thing is, I know how it's suppose to be done, but I still can't do it. I need some basic manual driving lessons. Nobody really taught me. I just taught myself and I don't think I'm doing everything 100% correctly.

What tends to happens is that you lift off the brake while trying to blip the throttle. Yikes!Warren

The height of the Type R seat and the "low-ness" of the dash make it difficult for us folks with longer legs....
Anybody try left foot braking? That's hard.

Actually that illustration is a little "granny" in that it shows the foot not bliping until it was all the way in gear,, lets say going from 3rd to 2nd, blip the throttle on the way into 2nd opposed to waiting until your in 2nd to save time.

I don't like that method, especially when I'm in the passenger's seat

I"m finally able to left f00t brake around town, but I have no confidence in doing this on the track. Guess I'll have to try it out in a few weeks.
i don't think that illustration is correct. shouldn't you blip the throttle with the clutch released and the shifter in neutral?
brake
depress clutch
shifter neutral
release clutch
blip throttle to proper rpm
depress clutch
shift to gear
release clutch
release brake
throttle!!!

If you watch a few JDM videos, most of them heel/toe with the heel on the brake, and the toe on the gas. It's hard to do in a LHD car, but there is less chance of coming off of the brake (like Warren said) while blipping the throttle.

the method you described is "double clutching"
here's how i do it:
brake
depress clutch
blip throttle to proper rpm *and* shift at same time
release clutch
release brake
throttle!!!

basically, yes, i double-clutch while braking.
i think what you're describing is heel & rev-match.
i believe you must release the clutch when matching revs, however, i could be wrong! anybody with a 3rd opinion?

I can only atttempt to heel-toe with the right heel on the brake and the toe on the gas. I drove my brothers 2002 impreza and the pedeals are right next to eachother!! So easy to heel-toe it makes me mad. You can do it stock with just the sides of your feet.
Oh btw if u want to see some funny ****. Make sure your seatbelt is on tight and there are no cars behind you and tell a friend who is driving to brake with his left foot. Hahahaha I did it last night

In a Honda (with stock pedals), the only way I can do it is with my right foot turned 90 degrees facing the driver's door. I finally got it down... the only problem is that I can only do it in my Tommy Bahama shoes and not my thin-soled shoes. eek.
You're kidding me--of the dozens of JDM videos I've watched, I've never seen it done that way. The only time (and quite a shock it was) I was saw the heel-braking thing was when Nascar went to Sears Point. They had a pedal cam and the guy did it that way. I almost fell out of the chair.
