How to ship an ITR shortblock? Suggestions?
I am selling my ITR shortblock and was wondering what is the best method to ship it. What company, and what type of container? I know people have shipped their's before. Any suggestions would be helpful.
I shipped my GSR complete shortblock using UPS ground from NY to WA for $62.
I plastic-wrapped the entire shortblock (think shipping cling wrap) then padded a big computer box and stuffed it in there.
make sure you use very dense foam/cushioning on the bottom, I actually loaded it in upside down because it seemed to settle better and sit better.
it was around 120 pounds totally packaged up.
I hear Fedex ground or Fedex freight might be cheaper too.

thanks a lot for the info...That sounds like a really good price for shipping a shortblock across the country. Hopefully I can get a good deal going from Indiana to Maine.
i just shipped a short block out fed ex, with some extras on it was like 140lbs. cost 81 bucks with 1000 ins, this was a ls short. got a big pallet and cut it to size like 2'x20'' then binded it and shrink wraped it

You can get the pink foam board insulation stuff from Lowe's or other major hardware store. I think it comes in a 4'x8' sheet that you can slit with a razor and break down into whatever size you need.
Whenever possible, I like to double box large/heavy items. I know UPS sells 25"x25"x25" boxes for like $5. Uhaul or other moving places might have something bigger to box that 25 cu. in. box in.
