Default I知 so exited, hip hip hooray!!!!

Hey, I am so happy I just got my Integra Ls back from the shop today
I got a muffler and New piping from the converter all the way back put on today
I know its not much but im so happy, my B-day is in a few days i'll be 16

I do have some questions for you guys
I also plan on getting headers hi-flow cat and new clutch and was wondering what you all thought about the products,

4-2-1 1.6L Performance header made by Pacesetter
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33631

I plan on also buying header wrap to reduce the engine bay temp
by 50%, thats what the mag says atleast

Exedy clutch kit
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33730

High Flow Replacement for Catalytic Converters
http://www.airdynamicracing.co...p=198

There is just a few things I plan on buying soon
Also Yes I do own an 87 integra ls, I am very happy with it
I was just wondering if you all thought these products where decent
I am not trying t get some extreme mods as you can see something that will work for now
I also plan on getting a few other things after these like Cold air intake, and some other basic mods

BTW dont worry im not a ricer NO neons or big wings etc....

Also at 80MPH (dad driving)the muffler seems to go silent as if a stock muffler is on but at 78 MPH its nice and loud and deep, just wandering if this is normal or if its ok

Thanks,

jealous he gets to use one?

first of all, that "catalytic converter" is nothing more than a resonated test pipe. and $50 is an outrageous price for one you'd be getting. if you're absolutely set on getting one of those (which i wouldn't recommend), you'd be better off going on ebay and getting one for $20. not only do they make your exhaust system sound raspy, they won't allow you to pass smog/emissions (if applicable), your exhaust will stink...the list goes on and on. look into getting a high flow catalytic converter from carsound or catco

secondly, pacesetter products are not great quality. when people say you get what you pay for, it holds true for pacesetter. fitment is not great and their welds look awful. i would highly recommend saving up a little more money (even if you're on a budget) and invest in a better quality header. i assume that your particular application is harder to find parts for, since i don't hear much about 1st gen integra parts...

ok so you got an ls let me tell you if you want a header there are 2 types., the type you are looking at is 4-2-1 that gives you low to mid power in the power band, for headers looking to 4 to 1 headers NOT 4-2-1 cuz 4-1 ( 4 pipes into 1 pipe) will give you top end power higher rpms cuz with the ls tranny it lacks power after like 4 to 4.5rpm atlest thats what i am going to do ls's have good low and mid power but serioulsy lack upper rpm power.

i actually had this convo tonite so ya...good luck

ok, first off, you have a d-series motor (d16a1 I would assume). So you might want to read more about the d-series, you share more parts with early Civics than you do with 90-01 Integras, so people in the EF and EG forums may have more insight about working with your motor.

Look at this for a guide to d-series performance
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=335078

You will need to find out what works with your car though, probably by joining http://www.g1teg.org. it's a good resource for your car, and they have how-to articles, and forums. You should definitely check it out, because some people will give you advice on Integras that will probably be based on their knowledge of b-series engines and fitment of parts in a 2nd or 3rd gen integra. For example, txracer said you should go with a 4-1 header. Now, a 4-1 header is good in terms of performance. They are made so well these days that they perform well in the low and high RPM ranges, the old 4-2-1 vs 4-1 header debate is not that simple, different designs give different results, so look at dyno graphs and do research before you decide. However, in a G2 teg, the 4-1 won't even work unless you cut a chunk out of your front crossmember. I am not sure about G1s, but you have to keep those differences in mind when you ask for advice.

As far as your parts, I think there are much better parts than pacesetter for your car. Check out g1tegs and find out what other people are using. Also, DO NOT wrap your header if it is ceramic coated. That will just cause moisture buildup, rusting, etc. If you get a stainless steel header (more money) you can wrap it to bring down underhood temps and keep heat in the header, but if you have a ceramic coated one, you do not need the wrap.

Your stock cat should be fine for now, wait until you plan out your setup to invest. Most USDM headers come with a 2 inch collector, so getting a high flow cat and mating it with 2" header and 2" exhaust won't help much. If you got a larger diameter exhaust, and find a decent header with a larger collector, then you should work with kteller8 or smsp to get a decent cat made for your setup, or you could try to make your own if you are good at welding and know what length, etc you need.

As for the clutch, it is fine if you think you need it. But I would wait unless you can't change gears at all. If you are 16 and learning to drive stick, just burn the stock clutch until you can't take it anymore - then move on to the more expensive stuff.

The exhaust may seem quieter at certain rpms, that happens all the time. Though you are travelling faster, the sound may resonate less for some reason, so it seems quieter. Don't worry about it.

Hope that helps, enjoy your first car, and be safe.

Thank you every one for all of the information,
thanks also for letting me know that the stuff i was looking at is kinda crap i plan on saving up for a little longer to get some good quality parts for my car.

Oh BTW i see that everyone said that when you own an integra people will try to race you alot etc....
Well the day i get tha muffler put on I was at my grandma's house and I was cleaning the windows, well a somewhat tuned mustang (NEW) came and parked across the street from me and started reving his engine over and over and then he just drove off. I just looked at him and shook my head. It was pretty funny

Ok, stories aside thanks again and I'll update you all ( With pics I hope) prolly within the next few months, I'll just prolly post in here no reason to make another topic

And yes d16a1 and i do have to replace the tranny or at least 5th gear, you can tell its about to go.
but I am planing on buying the clutch etc.... but not installing it until The one I have now See's its last day.

ok, thanks

u shouldnt brag about ur parents buying u a car. i bought my 94 integra by myself. i worked since i was 15 and bought it when i was almost 17. its much more rewarding knowing that you earned ur car instead of having ur parents give it to u.

If you are serious about a high flow cat that is legal, check out the Magnaflow high flow cat.
