Default Question about 96-2000 civic K members

Does anyone know if the k member (the peice in the rear towards the firewall that hold the rack and pinnon and lower control arms is different sizes between a manual rack or power)? I have a 2000si civic coupe and I wanted to know if there was one available that was smaller in size. Thanks guys...

Bump, does anyone know if you can run the 92-95 rear member with a 96-2000 civic?

No, it's totally different. And i'm not 100% sure, but i don't think the manual to ps crossmembers will be much different at all. Maybe slightly different bolt patterns on the rack mounting if anything.

Thanks Tony Guess we will have to deal with the tight engine bay squeeze of the rear member in the car...

It is completly different in design but I believe the mounting points are the same.

I remember reading Hasport recommending swapping to 92-95 X member in the 96-00 chassis when using one of their K-series mount kits. The reason behind it was header clearance.

See, if that is true it would work great for what we need it for...

It's already posted below, but it sounds like you want to use the EG crossmember. It bolts right up and is significantly more compact. To answer your first question, my car originally came with PS and I put a manual rack on it. Bolted right up.

Do you know if you can retain the original ek power rack and just install the eg cross member? And did you use a manual rack from an eg or ek?

Thanks everyone for their inputs...lots of help

Earl, I have a K member out of a 93Si that needs one nut welded on.

If you swap a manual rack into a 92-95Si you will need the passenger side rack clamp of the manual rack.

If you put a k member from a Cx in a Si you cannot fully clamp the passenger side of the Power Steering rack to the Cx k member.
