Another Type R vs. Thread (ITR vs. S4)
So in theory, given professional drivers on a roadcourse, what vehicle would post a quicker lap time? keep in mind that this is the older style S4 (6 cyl -turbo) and both vehicles are bone stock, no modding whatsoever. Many people say the S4 will own the Type R, but I beg to differ. (I may be a bit biased)
Type R can outhandle but the S4 but the S4 has enough tourque and the equipment (AWD) to use it to make up for its lack of cornering to stay ahead.

This question is so open-ended that it's got no right answer.
A bone stock ITR would probably outlast a bone stock S4 in an enduro race, for being lightweight, simpler design and NA based (less heat issue). But, S4 should be faster than an ITR over a sprint race given it's HP advantage.
But, in the real world, S4 is never left stock for track duty and it will own a modified ITR.

Supposing its 2001 ITR vs 2001 S4...

A twin turbo S4 is actually 250 hp and 258 tq at the crank. Fast nonetheless.

Having driven both on a track, Stock for stock the ITR hands down.
The S4 is definatly faster, but has to be driven extremely hard to try to match the pace of the ITR.
Either car modded and it always becomes a different story.

A friend of mine has one; We would mess around in HPDEs with both cars stock and running sticky street tires (Azenis). As you would expect, he would pull ahead a few car lenghts on long straights, then I would catch up under braking. He could power out of corners quicker than I could (due to sick low-end torque and AWD) but I could fly straight through chicanes that he had to slow down for, so ultimately we ran comparable lap times on small twisty tracks like Buttonwillow or Thunderhill.
Of course, he got to drive to and from the track in style and comfort

the elise is 1000 lbs lighter than the itr, and how bad does it own a s4?

that thing just took off on us as if we were standing still at watkins.
i'd say the elise hands down will own most cars
190 bhp, 1600 lbs, the thing is light as hell

i concur. that makes me think twice about all of the other so called times they have down for the itr.

I've raced some S4's at the track from time to time. My ITR is a bit modded (I/H/E, pads/rotors, sticky tires), but so was definately all the S4's as well.
At the medium/low speed tracks I'm usually driving (max speed 180kmh in the ITR) with at lot of braking action and sharp corners, I've have absolutely no problem outpacing a S4.
Sure the S4 accelerates better with I/H/E and upped boost, but my ITR brakes _way_ better due to low weight, light rims and the superb abs system the ITR has. In sharp cornes and chicanes the ITR also outhandles it with no problem at all.
At high speed tracks I would definately think the S4 is faster, and especially if the track is soft on brakes.
