Default D16A1 into 3rd gen

i read up on swaps for the 3rd gen accord, and it says nothing about the D16A1 but you think it would bolt right in since its pretty much the same year. any info?

i say probably...but why? i wont slam you for talking about putting a d16 into an accord, but just be prepared. all i know is I had a D16Z6 in my del Sol (RIP ) and it barely did anything. do you have anything special planned? i'd be impressed to see an engine like that move an accord with authority!

torquey?

what does it make? 108ft/lbs? If thats torquey, then what isnt torquey?

D series powered civics are slow enough, why the hell would you want to swap that motor into a heavier car?

its smaller and weaker than the stock engines in 3rd gen accords. if you want to compare teh a20a3 is 122hp and probably aroudn the same number in torque too.

better swaps would be b18b, b18c, b20a/b/z

3rd gen hatchback is a prettly light car (compared to other accords)....but a d series still wont make enough torque to move the car.....even a b18c into a 3rd gen hatch will barely have enough torque to truly make the cost of the swap worth it.....

D16A1 1.6L 16V DOHC PGM-FI 1590cc 113hp@6250rpm 99tq@5500rpm '86-'89 Integra (USA)

torquey? hmm...barely any hp too. you'd better turbo that thing if you end up doing the swap. much lighter than h22/b20/b18 engines, but I think the GSXR 1300 Hayabusa engine makes more power and torque. the other guys in this thread have the right idea of going with a bigger engine.

hahaha put it in and show us pics. the cost of fitting the engine in the car would probably be more than buying the engine that was made for it

it will go in with all custom outns, custom axles and a lto fo custom work. in the end it will be a lot of time maybe money and effort wasted when its slower than stock.
