Default Vtec Controller or Header....?

Buddy has a 02 RSX-S. Has AEM cold air, and ES N1 axleback. He bought some ITR cams wich he intends to install them soon. He is aslo planning on one more mod. he is debating to go with a nice decent header or a vtec controller. Will getting a vtec controller benefit him more since he will be getting cams, or will the header be more effictive?

I would say go with the header. In my opinion, I do not like piggy back fuel management. He will benefit with the header more. To me, it is Hondata and nothing else.

I think he should get Hondata Kpro ($1000) and ITR intake manifold ($300) and the hondata intake manifold gasket ($60$). that'll allow him to make full gains from the cams. That's the proper way setup if he chooses to go with the cams. Right now his biggest holdback is the ECU. it's not what parts he can bolt on.

thabends, VTEC is not always working. the i in i-vtec is VTC. VTEC just means when the cam changes over to the highcam profile that holds both valves open and close at the same time.

VTC is variable timing and cam angle. Allows the cams to rotate forward or backward 50 degrees. VTC operates continously and moves the cams back and forth when you drive. VTEC only operates when you are in high RPM's.
