What happens if added too much transmission fluid?
I thought i read something about this before but couldn't find any topics..
to make it simple, what happens if i overfill with fluid? i did everything i'm supposed to.. had the filler bolt removed, and i added oil until it started to leak.. i'm unsure if car was leveled enough..

it wasn't dramatically uneven.. just somewhat uneven and leaning towards driver side
for some reason it would leak more when it was leaning towards driver side, i noticed it was leaning and lowered it (i had passenger wheel removed and jack was on front passenger), once i lowered it and to what seemed to be leveled, it stopped leaking, i added more fluid until it started leaking again, then called it a day..

I just changed mine a few weeks back, I actually just let the extra fluid run out in hopes of some sort of lame flush, then put the bolt back on and filled it to the proper level.

The actual amount according to the Helm's is 2.3 quarts. I put the car on jack stands and used a level to make sure everything was even and 2.3 worked out perfectly.
And OMFG I got it from something useful that Opie posted

an easier way would be:
~drain the transmission fluid and then bolt it up
~take out vss (1 bolt, it's the shortest one)
~long funnel
~pour in 2.3 quarts as one member stated from the helm. I always thought it was 2.1 quarts and i usually pour that much.

i use 2.2 or 2.3 quarts.
to answer your question, though... too much fluid would create drag, and under extreme situations, the oil would start to foam up. put your car on level ground, pull the fill bolt, and let it drain until it stops. put the fill bolt back in, and you're good to go.
and yes, you can do this from the top of the engine bay. no jackstands. just make sure you have a way to clean up the excess oil. brake cleaner or whatever...
