Default Should my Accord have an OBD connector?

The car is 94 Accord LX 4D sedan. I went to inspection and was told the car is missing OBD connector thus emission test cannot be performed.

This car passed emission tests before in a different state. Of course something happened after that. A theft broke into my car and stole the CD player. Now I am wondering whether he stole that OBD connector too. Should this OBD connector behind the ashtrey or somewhere else? How much does it cost to replace it? Thanks in advance.

A 94 Accord is OBD1 and does not have a data link connector to my knowledge. Codes are manually extracted by shorting the Service Check Connector (SCS) and reading flashed codes from the CEL.

OBDII is a standard interface required by law. It's a 16 pin connector near the steering wheel, usually under the dash.

Sounds like you need another inspection station. I can't imagine an inspection station not knowing that a 94 is not OBDII.

that is what I suspected. When I went to inspection in IL, there was never a problem. Now I moved to NJ, they told me the car is missing this connector. I cannot imagine that the inspector didn't know what my car should and should not have. This inspection station is the ONLY NJ state run inspection station in the whole county!

uh my suggestion, make sure the inspector is male and knows which end the engine compartment is located, show them the damn repair manual, and show them how to flash the codes...you can't argue with stock hardware

gotta love knowing how your tax dollars are wasted!!!

The inspector was a male 20-some year old. I think NJ just flat out sucks! First someone broke into my car, then this stupid inspector!
