Qestions about buying from private seller that is willing to finance me
Hey guys I need some help...I was checking out ebay and found this bike
"http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2493006436&rd=1&sspage name=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT"
I emailed the seller and we have been talking back and forth, I got her to drop the price to 5500, which is still alot for the bike, but she is willing to take $2000 down and $500 a month, what do you think? Is there any precautions I should take? What is a fair value on the bike, if it all checks out. I think 4500-5000 is fair value, since 05 are comming soon. Any suggestions/precautions/help woudl be greatly appricated.

you talked her DOWN to $5,500? Well I guess in Cali things are more expensive...
I wouldn't do it but if you do be very careful. First ask to see the title. You awnt to make sure this isn't a stolen bike. And second, I would draw up a contract that is very specific on how and when payments will be made, when title will be transfered over to you. She could essentially call the cops and say you stole the bike from her if you don't have a bill of sale.. yeah I know I'm mad paranoid but crazy **** has happend to me in the past and now I trust no one.

That is totally risky on her part... without proof of full coverage on an ongoing basis, she will be **** our of luck WHEN you go down. There will be little recourse for her, exept small claims... there is no downside for you, as long as you have a written contract to hand over the pink slip when payment obligation has been made
