Any EF hatches running H1?
As the title says, haven't seen any or don't remember any. I have seen plenty of CRX's and EG coupes/HB's, but no EF HB's. Why is this? Chasis just not quick enough for the class? I know you can swap a B18 in this car, but is there enough room for a K20? Just curious, see them in H5 & H4, as well as ITC and ITA, but not in H1. Any and all comments and info greatly appreciated.

So it looks like both of you are out west. Anyone from the ECHC have an EF H1 build planned for the off season? Also, are you WCHC guys just using B-series, no one going to try and cram a K20 in one? Again, just seeing what is out there and getting some plans for the future (a couple years down the road).

look for a thread in here posted by PSUcrx or some configuration of that. I posted pics of a K20 in a crx. the problem is that its going to be completly custom. you don't even have the benifit of being on the west coast to check out the CRX. and the other thing is that the K20 is super tall for the EF and it sticks out of the hood quite a bit.
I will be running a H1 90 EF hatch in about a year or 2. The car should be done by next year and then just need to get some time in it. I am probably sticking with a B-series. H5civic i think i saw you running at beaverun in your EX civic recentally?
Yeah, I was running my '99 Civic Ex in TTF, just doing some lapping to get some seat time at BeaveRun while the new engine for my H5 EF HB was getting finished. Which car were you in?

I'll leave the K-series for the guys with more time and money than me. The EF/B-series combo is just so perfect a fit, it's a wonder Honda didn't think or it themselves. Hey, wait a minute; they DID...

I believe that Hasport is working on the conversion kit right now to transplant a K series into the EF chassis. I am sure that once that is done, a few CRXs and hatches will show up in H1! There is no real benefit to running a EF hatch in H!. The suspension of the later gens Civic are better and have more support in the aftermarket as they are newer. One of the main reason CRX are abundant is their weight and aerodynamic benefits.
i think that a worked over (in the head) stock block bottom end B18c-r in a CRX would be up front with power to weight ratio. IMO for a budget minded person, B series is still were its at.

All are very good points, which is why I'll probably continue to run H5 in my EF HB until I decide to convert my '99 Civic Ex daily driver to a dedicated track car and go play in H1.

Others far more knowledgeable than me have said that the suspension in the EF is more or less identical to the EG, but with a much lower chassis weight. There is an endless supply of aftermarket brake and suspension support for the EF. And the longer wheelbase of the EF may well prove to be a more stable hybrid car to drive than the CRX, especially with a heavy K-series swap.
Plus it looks neat.

Similar but not quite Identical. Radius rod VS. a real lower "A" arm fragile front uprights VS. stout units that come with bigger brakes, hubs etc. The later gens have a bit more suspension travel and camber gain as well and are just plain easier to work on. Overall they look quite the same but there are differences. I have raced both and would take the EG supension design over the EF.
The K series package is actually lighter and physically smaller than a B series. Some say roughly 60lbs but I cannot confirm that # I can't wait to see one done well in a EF chassis.

afaik, the suspension components you mentioned can be readily swapped out...
I know I changed much of my EF suspension to that of the itr...

I may race in H4 for a year or two in my EK coupe before I do a swap and make the plunge into H1. Then again, after reading some more of these posts, I may just race in H5 a few more years then drop a K20 in my EF HB and jump to H1 then. Only time will tell

Cool good luck
it does seem that parts are increasingly plentiful for them
Carbon versions of the old J's racing lip are now availiable making it very easy to mount a flat carbon undertray too
If anyones interested my old fully caged 88 EF is up for sale by the new owner for 1k for a rolling shell and 2500 with nicely tuned b20 in it

my echc H1 car... but you have probably not seen it before... it's only made one hc race so far (only had my comp. license for less than a year and have been busy w/ college)... my other echc races were in chad's old snatchback.
the car has not seen NEARLY enough track time to shake down the setup...
lemme know if u have any questions
