Hey guys just wondering if that's the case, Engine light came on and had the code for the cat/ o2 sensor. I forgot the number. what do i do? and how much will these push me back. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a carsound cat with the sensors of course. Setup: J's cf intake, JDM 4-1 header, carsoundcat, RS*R exhaust. Soon to be installed Toda A's and Toda cam gears.
Could be that your caR is not at optimun a/f and your sensor picked up on it.
Or could be that your cat took a dump...
try cleaning the sensor if possible and try again.

Definitely might be the case if your car isn't tuned.

My O2 went bad after 20k miles! But my factory warranty covered it. 02 sensors usually run for about 120 bucks I believe.

Hmm thanks..how do i go by cleaning the sensor? what do i use to clean it with? sorry if that's a dumb question.
would it be better to replace it with new sensor?

I don't know what would be a good cleaner... maybe brake parts cleaner?
If it does not help then.. its not like you lost anything
Check the classifieds for a cheap used one or just call Len up.

my primary o2 died after running untuned for a couple of months. i only had 25k miles on it. i'm sure there are tons of variables to this as well.

I've seen 02 sensors go bad way early. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Me too, on an untuned GM twincam, the primary O2 melted/deformed.
It was a little lean at WOT, but still....
I wouldn't clean them. Not sure what chemicals can break them, but I'm sure some can.

Hey, ask me about "primary" o2 going bad!!!
Mine went out and I thought there was a problem with the cat also, but NOPE. It was the o2 the entire time. I replaced it with a used GS-R o2 sensor temporarely until I get the chance to tune it. (Not that I got a chance to do that anytime soon since my fix-it ticket) but its doing ok now...
Dennis, are you sure that break fluid works???

From http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/59.shtml
O2 HEGO sensors (heated oxygen sensors)
To check the sensors first disconnect and inspect the wiring, remove the sensors and clean them, don't use any type of chemicals to do this, the cleaning should be done by using a PROPANE TORCH, place the sensor tip inside the propane flame for a few seconds at a time until all contaminants get evaporated by the heat. Place the sensors back in place.
