Default car hesitates when i hit vtec

once my car hits vtec, it bogs out and doesn't seem to want to move. it hesitates right after vtec hits.
motor is a jdm gsr motor
dc sports header
skunk2 IM
cai
msd ignition kit

i had a b&m fpr on with the fuel pressure set at 40 psi. i also had a walbro 255lph fuel pump in because of the zex kit that have that i never use .

i took the fuel pump and the b&m fpr off and put the stock ones back on so far.i thought i may be running rich due to the fuel pump. i have also changed my spark plugs. when i took the plugs i had in the motor out, the threads had black on them and the electrode part was kinda brownish/blackish in color.

i haven't driven the car yet because its been raining. anything else i should look at that might be making my car do this?

also...if i gradually let the rpms go up, the car does fine, but when i really get on it, it will hesitate in the upper rpms.

i was thinking i was running too rich with the wablro fuel pump, but i'm not sure.

check your oil pump it may be dying since you have a JDM GSR motor.. they do like to drive the **** out of those cars... since they have to change the motor every 40,000 miles

if you have a cat . your cat can be clogged. Thats the same thing my car did . Once it hit vtec it just died. Oh and check your fuel filter. hope you get it fixed

no check engine light.

i had some ngk spark plugs

don't you think that the walbro pump is too big?

i put the stock one back in. went for a drive today and gradually got on the
car. it felt pretty good. i didn't get a chance to really get on the car though.

i'm thinking of getting a gsr fuel pump.

oil pressure is reading good on the oil pressure guage.

it could have been the plugs, i dont' know.

i have heard of this happenin to people, vtec opens but at about 7K it lags a lil bit, and they claimed the IM caused it (skunk 2) i dunno if this is true or not, maybe someone that knows more can give some input, just throwing that idea out there cuase i heard it on several cases, but like i said it could not be true.

i think it is becuase the im helps on peak hp but hurts midrange and tourque a lil bit?

another thing what ecu are you using. when is vtec engaging. check your msd. bogging normally is due to rich of a fuel mixture. power loss could be alot of things. Again do you have a cat on your car. if so unhook it and drive without a cat . see if that helps.

i'm using a kenji chipped p28.

i don't think its cause of the IM though.

msd is working fine.

spark plugs look good after i removed them. nice brownish color.

i don't have a cat.

You might want to check your grounds that can cause some weird problems.

You are going to hate this idea but put it on a dyno and hook a wideband O2 sensor to check the A/F ratio. I agree with everyone else that it sounds like a fuel issue either too much or too little the only way to be sure is to dyno.
